Let’s celebrate St‑Jean‑Baptiste Day on June 24, 2026! 🎉⚜️💙

This special day is a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate Québec’s rich culture, heritage, and community spirit.

Fun fact: The tradition of lighting bonfires on St‑Jean‑Baptiste Day dates back centuries and originally celebrated the summer solstice — the longest day of the year. 🔥🌞

Today, these “feux de joie” continue to symbolize light, warmth, and togetherness across Québec. How will you celebrate this year? Share your traditions, photos, or memories in the comments—we’d love to hear from you! 💙⚜️

⚽✨ Did You Know?

Long before the FIFA World Cup captured the world’s attention, McGill University played a surprising role in the early history of “football” in North America!

👉 In 1874, McGill students faced Harvard in a series of games that mixed different styles of “football”—including a version that looked a lot like early soccer!

These historic matches helped shape the future of North American sports, influencing the development of football as we know it today.

🌍 Fast forward to today…
⚽ A growing soccer nation:
Canada first appeared in the World Cup in 1986,
returned after a long gap in 2022,
and is now competing again in 2026 as a host nation.
Canada is proudly co-hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026, bringing the world’s most beloved sport right to our doorstep!

💡Montreal’s rich sporting heritage reminds us that our community has long been part of the global story of sport.

❤️⚽ From 19th-century fields to today’s World Cup excitement—what a journey!
