The 2026 Gaboury Symposium is a joint event between the Parliamentary Internship Programme and the Institute on Governance, as part of IOG's 35th anniversary celebrations.
This annual event showcases original research produced by parliamentary interns that explores emerging trends in legislative issues, Parliamentary procedure, 'life on the Hill', or federalism. The author of the strongest paper is awarded the Hales Prize, named after the PIPโs founder, MP Alfred Hales, who in 1969, introduced a parliamentary motion to establish the Programme.
We're proud to partner with Parliamentary Internship Programme - Programme de stage parlementaire to support the next generation of public service leaders and contribute to meaningful conversations on governance and democracy.
