Many families believe conflict around caregiving happens because siblings don’t get along.
In reality, conflict often begins with uncertainty.
When families haven’t talked about:
• Aging and care preferences
• Financial realities
• Decision-making roles
• Retirement living or long-term care wishes
• How responsibilities may be shared
…siblings are left trying to interpret what they think a parent would want during an already stressful time.
That’s where misunderstandings, resentment, and conflict can grow.
