⚽🌎 From the stands to the spotlight! 🌎⚽

What an incredible experience at the Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί vs TΓΌrkiye πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡· World Cup match in Vancouver!

Before kickoff, our principal Axel and his daughter Rebecca joined fellow volunteers on the field to carry the massive centrepiece into BC Place, a spectacular fabric display combining a soccer ball and the Earth to symbolize the global spirit of the game 🌍⚽✨

And here’s a fun challenge for our SGLS community πŸ‘€: Can you spot Axel during the Australian national anthem? He was standing right behind the players as the stadium came alive with excitement and pride.

What a memorable moment and a fantastic opportunity to be part of football history right here in Vancouver! πŸ™Œ

⚽🌎 SGLS at the FIFA World Cup! 🌎⚽

We are excited to share that our principal, Axel Rechlin, and his daughter Rebecca are volunteering at the FIFA World Cup matches in Vancouver! πŸ™Œ

Today was rehearsal day at BC Place, where volunteers practiced for the exciting pre-game ceremonies. Axel and Rebecca have a special role: they will be helping carry the centrepiece onto the field before the teams make their grand entrance ✨🏟️

Their first match will be Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί vs TΓΌrkiye πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡· on Saturday, June 13.

We’ll be getting first-hand stories and behind-the-scenes insights from the games. If you’re watching, keep an eye out for them on the field before kickoff! πŸ‘€βš½

From first German conversations to growing confidence week after week, these classes showed that language learning can be fun and has no age limit πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺβœ¨πŸ’›

A celebration like Maifest only happens because of the incredible volunteers behind the scenes. This post is for YOU ✨

A huge thank you to our amazing concession stand ladies who not only helped feed everyone at Maifest, but also show up every Saturday throughout the school year serving pretzels, snacks and smiles during recess πŸ₯¨πŸ’›

Thank you to all Maifest volunteers who prepared and served the hot dog lunch and drinks 🌭πŸ₯€
And of course, thank you to our volunteer organizers, volunteer board members and teachers who planned, set up and ran all the games and activity stations that made the day so much fun πŸŽ―βš½πŸŽ‰

Your time, energy and dedication are what make our SGLS community so special. Danke from the bottom of our hearts ❀️

Alongside all the celebrations, Maifest also gave us the opportunity to say goodbye and thank two wonderful teachers for their dedication to our school community.

A heartfelt farewell goes to Kindergarten teacher Anett Roland, who has been such an important and beloved part of our school for 6 years 🌸 Thank you for your warmth, care and the countless memories you created with your students.

We also said goodbye to Franziska, who taught our E1/2 class this year and brought great energy and enthusiasm to the classroom ✨

We wish both of them all the very best for their next adventures and thank them for everything they contributed to our school πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ–€

After the diploma ceremony, it was time for games, laughter and nonstop action outside β˜€οΈπŸ™Œ

Students raced through activity stations including parachute games, skipping rope, limbo, egg races, three-legged races, axe throwing, a scavenger hunt and the always popular soccer wall ⚽πŸ₯šπŸͺ“

So much energy, teamwork and fun to celebrate the end of another fantastic school year πŸ’›
A huge thank you to all teachers, volunteers and organizers who made these activities possible.

Before the games and celebrations began, we proudly honoured the hard work and achievements of our students during the formal presentation of the A1, A2 and DSD 2 certificates πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‘

The certificates were presented by Irene MrΓ‘zek, German Language Advisor of the ZfA Canada West, together with Natascha Daiminger from the German Consulate General in Vancouver.

A very special and proud moment for our students, families and teachers after years of dedication to learning the German language πŸ“šβœ¨

Herzlichen GlΓΌckwunsch to all certificate recipients. Your hard work truly paid off πŸ’›β€οΈπŸ–€
