It was a pleasure to show up and support our friends and colleagues in Coquitlam who planned an awesome rally with an impressive turn-out and who are holding up their commitment to public education!

We are grateful for all of the teachers who showed up after a long day in the classroom and honoured to stand alongside you.

It is always cool when students take matters into their own hands so if you have time and the opportunity, consider supporting this action and showing up!

The BCFS stood by us and fought along side us when grade 7 band was cut so this is a good way to build solidarity in our efforts. πŸ‘Š

It is not easy to galvanize high school teachers to walk outside in the cold, stand on a street corner, wave some signs, and then walk-in together as a show of force. But these teachers did it at Panorama this morning, and we are so grateful.

Thank you to all teachers and union members who are doing what they can to tell the government and the public that their working conditions need improvements and that their kids deserve better.

You have given us so much to be proud of. ❀️

Thank you Surrey teachers 😘

This was our 7th school walk-in organized by teachers in Surrey and while every walk-in is humbling and touching and powerful, W.E Kinvig Elementary managed something we had no seen before.

Organizers at Kinvig not only coordinated a walk-in where 99.9% of their teachers would attend, but their support staff also walked in with them, as did the TTOCs who were called in for that day!

We are amazed and grateful at your effort and when the province's teachers achieve gains in their negotiated contract, it will be because of teachers like you who braved the rain, cold winter months, the fear of being judged or misunderstood, and who dared to hope and demand improvements to learning conditions for kids.

Thank you thank you thank you and well done! ✊️

🌧️ Rain or shine, teachers show up.

On Monday morning, educators at Holly Elementary staged a powerful walk-in, in a full-on deluge, to stand up for better working conditions for teachers and better learning conditions for kids.

This government promised:
πŸ“Œ A counsellor in every school
πŸ“Œ An IESW in every primary classroom

Promises matter. Kids matter.

It’s time for the government to make good on their word.

I am always deeply touched by what classroom teachers are willing to do to show their commitment to 'their' kids, and to the future of public education.

Today, a bunch of them joined the STA Executive in a downpour and held signs, chanted protest slogans, stood on the street, and demanded this government do good on its promise to have a counselor in every school and an IESW in every primary classroom.

Do better NDP, it's time you funded public education in BC to the national average.

One of the highlights of this rally was to have CUPE and DPAC join us. You are only as good as the company you keep and if these women are any indication, we are killin' it!

Hey everyone! A friend and colleague from SFU is launching a Building Teacher Leadership program for FREE!

I worked alongside Rob for two years and even then, he was instrumental and helping me determine my next steps in education. This is especially geared towards emerging teachers (so recent grads) or anyone who would like to develop a leadership action plan for a project they want to lead in their school. The time commitment is 4 Saturday mornings for 90 minutes, and four 1:1 coaching sessions whenever it suits you. Check it out here: https://genr8.ca/

Hello colleagues! We have been getting media requests recently regarding the consequence of underfunding/overcrowding as it relates to certain senior courses not being available (either because they are full or too few sections) to students who require them for graduation or entry into university. We've heard of this happening but it helps to have specifics in order to better advocate.

Do you know of Grade 12 students who won't have pre-requisite courses for post-secondary institutions when they graduate this year because not enough Chemistry, Physics, Pre-Calc, etc classes are being offered at their school? Or if they've had to take these courses on-line because they could not access them through their schools?

If this is you, please email [email protected] from your personal email account with any information you have. Thanks in advance!
