🏆 Congratulations to our 2026 Empowering Youth for Climate Action (EYCA) Award winners!

Each year, the EYCA Awards recognizes the top Action Projects posted on Our Canada Project to highlight outstanding student leadership and contributions to Canada’s sustainable future.

This year's winning projects will receive a certificate of achievement and a financial prize to support future Action Projects including a $3,000 grand prize for the first-place winner! 🌱

We're especially pleased to see that two of our top three winning schools are part of LSF's Sustainable Future Schools (SFS) program. It was inspiring to see how these schools integrated the UN SDGs into their projects and embedded sustainability into their school-wide culture and operations.

To every student and educator who took on an Action Project this year: thank you for your creativity, dedication, and commitment to making a difference. Your ideas continue to inspire us! 💚

"Look at yourself and ask, what can I do better?" These words from a student stuck with us long after the Canadian Commission for UNESCO National Conference wrapped up in Ottawa.

We had the privilege of bringing together youth, educators, and changemakers for three days of learning, action, and inspiration. We explored reconciliation, peace, equity, and sustainability. From powerful keynotes to hands-on workshops led by incredible partners, students left with real tools, new perspectives, and a grant to launch their own sustainability initiative.

In a world full of uncertainty, these young people reminded us: action, big or small, is always within reach. Start with something you care about. 💚

I&E delivered a bilingual workshop to over 200 students from across the country as part of the UNESCO Associated Schools National Conference from May 27th - 29th.

Titled "SDG Superpowers" students were able to discover their unique strengths, explore how these qualities show up in a team, and connect them to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Learning about leadership qualities, teamwork skills, and concrete applications to problem solving, students left the hands-on workshop with more clarity on how they can be changemakers in the world of sustainability.

🦫 Beavers are nature’s engineers!

All winter they stayed tucked inside their lodges — now, they're back at work.

Spring means repairing winter damage, reinforcing dams, and sometimes building brand new ones 🌿

But why build a dam? To raise water levels, prevent freezing, protect their lodge from predators, and store winter food safely underwater 🤯
