Iceberg’s Lola Pops were frozen fruit-flavoured pyramids that became an iconic warm-weather treat. They were introduced in 1959 and sold only in Ontario and Quebec.

Lolas were discontinued in the early ’80s (and briefly revived in the late ’90s at a smaller size), but they remain an icy blast of sweet nostalgia.

The road to legalizing same-sex marriage in Canada was long. On February 13 2003, NDP MP Svend Robinson introduced a private member’s bill that would legalize same-sex marriages. It was his third attempt since 1998, and, like the others, the bill failed.

Curated by McCartney with Sarah Brown for MPL Communications and Rosie Broadley for the National Portrait Gallery and organized for the AGO by curator Jim Shedden, the chronological exhibit culminates in the Fab Four’s famous appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. Taken on McCartney’s 35-mm Pentax SLR camera, the photos include images that appear oddly cropped or blurry.
