Did you know paddling benefits more than just your body?
This National Paddling Week we’re highlighting how time on the water can support your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being in powerful ways:
💪 Physically - paddling builds strength, endurance, balance, and coordination while getting you active outdoors.
🧠 Mentally - being on the water can help reduce stress, improve focus, and create space to disconnect from daily distractions and reconnect with the present moment.
🌿 Spiritually - paddling offers a unique connection to nature, the water, and the world around us — creating moments of reflection, gratitude, and peace.
A quiet sunrise paddle, a weekend adventure, or time spent learning new skills with friends and community, paddling has a way of helping us slow down and reconnect with the world around us.
We encourage everyone to get outside, explore our waterways, and experience the many ways paddling can support overall wellness!

It was a wonderful night to be on the La Salle - I forgot to take pictures. There was a large group out, 4 kayakers, and 5 canoes. Temperature was just right, only a light breeze, and a bit of current to carry us home.
Thanks, Leo and Ross!

National Paddling Week is from June 21 to 28. Join us to celebrate on Wednesday, June 24!
We'll be having a BBQ starting at 5:30pm. Bring a chair and grab a hotdog and lemonade or iced tea while mingling with fellow paddlers. At 7:00pm we"ll hit the water for a paddle down the La Salle River.
There are two ways to get on the water:
You can bring your own canoe, kayak or SUP. Be sure to have the proper Transport Canada safety gear, including a PFD. You'll need to complete the waiver if you have not done so this year. Visit events on our website to download and upload waivers.
You can also rent a canoe, kayak or SUP from us! Visit rentals on our website to book one. All rentals will get one Paddle Manitoba travel mug!
Please email [email protected] by Friday, June 19, if you plan on attending the BBQ so we can plan quantities.

After having to cancel last Wednesday evening's paddle, it looked like it might happen again, but it cleared up around 7:30, and it turned into a beautiful evening to be on the river.
The river was high from the rain yesterday, and there was a moderate current.

Wednesday evening was eventful and full of rain, lightning, and thunder. The weather alerts came in fast and furious all evening, and after watching the sky for almost an hour, it was time to throw in the towel. I think this was only the third evening paddle that I had to cancel due to the weather.
Thanks to those who came out for not getting upset when the decision was made.

A Nopiming water route update.
Wildfire recovery work along water routes is underway in Nopiming Provincial Park. Backcountry campsites on Garner Lake are now open. Crews are currently working on the Seagrim Lake Chain, with a projected reopening of some campsites later in June.
Campsites along all other water routes remain closed. Park visitors can expect a mix of reopenings and closures through the summer season as recovery work continues. Plan ahead and check for the latest updates before your visit at https://bit.ly/4wYeCnk.
