After earning his PhD at Johns Hopkins and conducting postdoctoral research at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, DAI Liang, the 2021 Sloan Research Fellow is now back in China as a XiangHui Young Scholar and Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Fudan.
His mission? Using extreme gravitational lensing to map dark matter and trace its origins in the early universe. Because as he puts it, even the most “useless” research might just hold the key to our cosmic mysteries.

Plum rain season at . 🌧️

The trees are dripping, the air is thick, and the campus smells like wet earth and green leaves. This isn't a downpour — it's a slow, steady mist that settles into everything.

Carry an umbrella, sure. But don't forget to look up — the best part is the light filtering through wet branches.

🏆 We are proud to announce that GE Zhaoguang, senior professor of humanities and founding director of National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University, has been awarded the 2026 Tang Prize in Sinology — one of the most prestigious honors in the field.

Prof. Ge is celebrated for his transformative work in Chinese intellectual history, from early studies on Zen Buddhism and Daoism to his groundbreaking "What is China?" trilogy. His seminal book, An Intellectual History of China, challenged traditional narratives by shifting the focus from elite classics to the everyday ideas, beliefs, and knowledge of ordinary people — what he calls "general knowledge, thought, and belief".

A true interdisciplinary scholar, Prof. Ge bridges literature, history, philosophy, religion, and art history. He founded National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan to break down academic silos and foster dialogue across fields. His works have been translated into English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, and more, reshaping how the world understands Chinese culture.

🎬 Have you seen Dear You (《给阿嫲的情书》)? That film about overseas Chinese sending letters home struck a chord with millions.
But here's a story you might not know: Fudan University itself was built on that same love across the seas.
Born in Indonesia, President Li Denghui returned to China convinced that only through education could a nation grow strong. He spent six months fundraising across Southeast Asia, raising 150,000 silver dollars — enough to buy the land where our Handan Campus stands today.
To***co tycoons, sugar barons, and countless anonymous donors gave what they could. Many never sought recognition. They simply believed that educating China meant strengthening China.
Across oceans, across generations — some ties never break. 🌏

Our Wushu athletes just brought home 2 golds and 2 bronzes from the 2026 FISU World University Championship Combat Sports — including Team China's very first gold of the tournament.

🥇 ZHU Yuting opened the competition with a stunning Changquan performance, earning China its debut gold with power and precision.
🥇 MA Qianhui followed with a masterful display of Jianshu (sword technique), her blade tracing poetry in motion.
🥉 YU Yuruo, in his first-ever international appearance, stayed calm under pressure to take bronze in Taijiquan.
🥉 SHEN Dazhi rounded out the medals with a Taijijian performance that balanced stillness and strength.

From the explosive power of Changquan to the fluid grace of Taiji, they showed the world what Fudan spirit looks like on the global stage. 💙
