Ever said 二个instead of 两个 👀

Chinese has two common ways to say “two”:
两 (liǎng)** is usually used for quantity, especially before a measure word.
✅ 两个人 — two people
✅ 两杯茶 — two cups of tea
二 (èr)** is used for numbers, sequences, and positions.
✅ 二楼 — the second floor
✅ 第二次 — the second time

The quick rule:
How many? → 两**
Which number / which one? → 二**

Now try this:

“Two books” — 二本书or 两本书? 📚

夏至 (xiàzhì) is the Summer Solstice — the day with the longest daylight of the year. ☀️

The name itself carries a beautiful sense of the season:

夏 means “summer,” while 至 suggests reaching an extreme or fullest point.

So 夏至 feels like the moment when summer reaches its height.

In many parts of China, the season is marked not by a big celebration, but by something simple: a bowl of noodles.

There’s an old saying:
冬至饺子夏至面
Dumplings for the Winter Solstice, noodles for the Summer Solstice.

Cold noodles are especially welcome on hot days — refreshing, seasonal, and just right for summer. 🍜
How do you celebrate the Summer Solstice in your country?

🌿 Happy Dragon Boat Festival! 🐉

This week our Shanghai campus students and Summer Camp kids dove into one of our favorite traditions — making their own 香囊 (fragrant sachets).

The best part? Picking the herbs. There was a lot of careful sniffing, a few strong opinions, and plenty of "this one!" moments before each student settled on their perfect blend. Then came the fun of filling and finishing their very own sachet — a little pouch packed with herbs to carry health and good luck through the summer. 💛

Can online classes really help you speak Chinese?

Yes — but only if the class gets you talking.

In a one-on-one online lesson, you’re not waiting for your turn in a crowded classroom. You’re speaking, responding, making mistakes, and getting corrected on the spot.

You can also see your teacher’s mouth clearly, practise real-life conversations, and replay the lesson afterwards to catch what you missed.

Speaking doesn’t improve by watching more videos.
It improves by speaking more — with the right feedback.

Most people pick their Chinese name the wrong way 😅

They translate the meaning, match the sound only, or go too big, and it ends up sounding like a thing, not a name.

A good name does three things ✨ it sounds like you, means something good, and follows how Chinese names are really built.

So we built a free Name Generator that does exactly that. You set the vibe, it does the rest 🎯

Most learners don't struggle with Chinese words.

They struggle with Chinese tones.

Especially the 4th tone.

People often make it too soft:

❌ shì↘︎
❌ duì↘︎
❌ bù↘︎

But the 4th tone isn't gentle.

It's sharp.
It's quick.
It drops hard.

Here's the easiest way to feel it:

👉 Cough.

*Kh! Kh!*

That downward burst?
That's the same energy you need for the Chinese 4th tone.

Try these:

是 (shì)
对 (duì)
不 (bù)
去 (qù)

Then level up:

🇮🇹 意大利
🇦🇹 奥地利
🇦🇺 澳大利亚

Notice how much stronger and clearer they sound?

Chinese pronunciation isn't just about your mouth.

It's about your rhythm, your breath, and your energy.

Which Chinese tone is hardest for you?
