Summer may still feel far away ☀️
But the beginning of the school year has a way of arriving faster than we expect.
That is why we have prepared a series of practical summer events for parents and Montessori educators who want to enter the new school year with more clarity, confidence, and calm.
Whether your child is preparing for their first steps into preschool, kindergarten, a children’s group, or a Montessori environment, or whether you are preparing to begin the year in a 0–3, 3–6, or 6–12 Montessori classroom, summer can be the perfect time to get ready.
Not at the last minute.
Not in stress.
But with enough space to think about what children truly need in the first days and weeks of a new beginning.
Our summer programme includes:
Preparing Your Child for Preschool

Adolescence is a unique stage of development.
In Montessori, we do not see ages 12–18 as “older children” who simply need more advanced lessons. Adolescents are building identity, independence, social awareness, and a sense of belonging.
That is why the prepared environment for this age group looks different. It includes meaningful work, real responsibility, community life, collaboration, and adults who model how to contribute to society.
The Online AMI 12–18 Orientation Certificate Course offers an introduction to this important stage and helps adults better understand how to support adolescents in their intellectual, emotional, and social development.
Summer cohort: August 10–14, 2026
Early-bird ends June 30

Children do not grow in separate course modules. They do not experience development as 0–3 and then 3–6. They experience one continuous journey from birth to six. 👶
That is why the AMI 0–6 Orientation Certificate Course exists.
It is not a shortcut, and it is not a replacement for a full 0–3 Orientation Course or a full 3–6 Orientation Course. Those dedicated courses offer greater depth within each age range. The 0–6 Orientation has a different purpose: to help you see the whole first plane of development as one connected story. 🌱
So much of what we observe in the Children’s House begins much earlier. The way a child moves through the environment, separates from an adult, trusts what is around them, uses language, or reaches for independence is often rooted in the first three years of life.
And the same is true in reverse. What happens in the Nido and Infant Community becomes even more meaningful when we understand how it prepares the child for what comes next. 🔗
The AMI 0–6 Orientation Certificate Course helps connect these pieces. Led jointly by Heidi Philippart, AMI Trainer for 0–3, and Madlena Ulrich, AMI Trainer for 3–6, it explores the full developmental journey from birth to six.
Fully online · June 22 – July 16
Registration closes on June 22

Cosmic Education is one of the foundations of Montessori elementary. But how do we keep it alive in the daily work of the classroom?
Not only through the Great Stories.
Not only in individual presentations.
But in the way children connect ideas, ask questions, work, and gradually discover their place in the world.
Join the online workshop with Micaela Kuh, AMI 6–12 Trainer, who will bring practical examples from real Montessori classrooms and more than 40 years of experience.

On April 15, 2014, Montessori Institute Prague officially joined AMI.
This photo captures a moment that remains deeply meaningful to us. It brings together several AMI leaders whom we have had the great privilege to know, work with, and learn from over the years.
From the right: Philip O’Brien, then AMI President; Lynne Lawrence, Executive Director of AMI; André Roberfroid, former AMI President; Mirka Vlčková; Jana; and, on the very left, Megan Tyne.
With great sadness, AMI announced Megan’s passing today.
Megan was closely connected with Montessori Institute Prague through our shared work during the 27th International Montessori Congress in Prague, and later through the AMI Global School Accreditation team.
We will remember her not only for her dedication to AMI and to Montessori education, but also for her warmth, wisdom, and the deep conversations she brought into every encounter.
One memory that stays with us is a long walk through the Old Town of Prague in 2017, when Megan and Mirka spoke for hours about Montessori, about AMI, and about why this work matters so profoundly.
In honor of Megan’s memory, Montessori Institute Prague will cancel all events planned for the rest of this week.
With gratitude, respect, and sadness,
Montessori Institute Prague
