The best programmes do not simply transfer knowledge.
They reshape how leaders think, decide, and lead.

At the Executive MBA at VSE Prague of the Faculty of Business Administration, VŠE, Fakulta podnikohospodářská VŠE /FPH VŠE/ we have designed a programme for executives who expect more than credentials. Here is what sets our programme apart:

1️⃣ International credibility that few institutions can claim
As the only business school in the Czech Republic with Triple Crown accreditation, the Faculty of Business Administration belongs to the top 1% of business schools globally. That matters, because the quality of your network and the credibility of your MBA travel with you.

2️⃣ A learning environment built for senior professionals
You do not learn only from faculty. You learn from the room. Our cohort brings together experienced leaders from across industries and countries, creating an environment that challenges assumptions, broadens perspectives, and fosters personal growth. Delivered in six intensive blocks per year, the programme is structured to fit the reality of senior executives, allowing participants to combine demanding careers, personal commitments, and rigorous study.

3️⃣ Academic rigor with real-world relevance
Our lecturers are not disconnected academics. They combine international academic backgrounds with practical executive and consulting experience, ensuring every session bridges theory with application. The learning experience is further enriched by experienced guest speakers who bring additional perspectives and provoke discussion.

4️⃣ A Curriculum Designed to Build Executive Capability
The first part of the programme focuses on selected skills seminars and seven core general management modules, covering key disciplines such as leadership, strategy, finance, or economics. Participants engage in interactive discussions, case studies, guest lectures, and team-based collaboration.

5️⃣ Applied Learning Beyond the Classroom
In the second half of the programme, participants move beyond functional modules and into practical application. Through a long-term consulting project with a real company, students are deliberately taken outside their industry bubbles and challenged to solve unfamiliar business problems in cross-functional teams. This is complemented by an intensive corporate workshop focused on real business challenges, an international field trip providing international market exposure, and a final MBA thesis or business project where participants apply their learning to a strategic issue relevant to their own professional context.

Because an Executive MBA should not simply reflect where you are today. It should prepare you for the leader you aim to become.

That is the standard our Executive MBA is built around.

That is what we built our Executive MBA to deliver.

We would like to introduce Dr. Tanweer Ali, who teaches Finance in the Executive MBA at VSE Prague at the Faculty of Business Administration, Fakulta podnikohospodářská VŠE /FPH VŠE/

Tanweer brings a financial perspective into the classroom, combining finance, accounting, and corporate governance with a clear focus on decision-making.

He holds an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Economics from the University of Hertfordshire. He is also a holder of the globally recognised CFA Institute and Global Association of Risk Professionals (FRM) certifications.

Before academia, he spent more than 10 years in finance and consulting across the UK and the Czech Republic.

In the Executive MBA at VSE Prague, together with other lecturers in our Finance course, their focus is on turning financial data into decisions and how to:
→ read financial statements
→ link financials to strategy and performance
→ use managerial accounting for planning, control, and resource allocation
→ evaluate investments and trade-offs under uncertainty

Executive students are not learning accounting. They are rather learning how to think financially when making strategic decisions. Because at the executive level, every decision is ultimately a financial decision.

❓ Is a narcissistic good for a company?
Or dangerous for it? ❌

For years, research has struggled to give a clear answer.

Some studies suggest that narcissistic CEOs drive performance, push bold strategies, and navigate crises with confidence. Others link the same personality traits to manipulation, toxic cultures, and excessive risk-taking.

So which view is correct?

A new meta-analysis by researchers from the Faculty of Business Administration at the Prague University of Economics and Business sought to answer this question. By systematically reviewing 124 studies published over the past two decades, the authors examined whether the existing body of research allows us to draw a reliable conclusion.

The surprising result: it does not.

The evidence does not clearly show whether narcissistic leaders improve or harm company performance. One important reason appears to be methodological. Studies use very different methods to identify narcissism and measure its organizational impact. From psychological indices to indirect proxies such as the size of a CEO’s signature or the prominence of their photograph in annual reports.

But the explanation may go deeper.

Narcissism itself is not a single, uniform trait. Different forms of narcissism, such as grandiose vs. vulnerable narcissism, manifest in very different behaviors and leadership patterns.

What emerges instead of a simple answer is a more nuanced insight.

Traits associated with narcissism, such as strong self-confidence, decisiveness, and a willingness to take risks, can be advantageous in certain contexts, particularly when bold moves or crisis leadership are required.
At the same time, the very same traits can become liabilities: excessive risk-taking, ignoring feedback, prioritizing personal image over organizational interests, or creating unhealthy work environments.

In other words, narcissistic leadership is a double-edged sword.

For organizations, this has an important implication. Evaluating leaders or candidates for leadership positions should not rely on simple personality labels or quick, intuitive judgments. A more reliable assessment requires combining multiple perspectives and methods to understand how individuals actually make decisions, handle pressure, and work with others.

Charisma and confidence may signal strong leadership.

But they are not always what they seem.

This , we celebrate not only the women in our Executive MBA community, but also women leaders, experts, entrepreneurs, and change-makers everywhere who raise the bar in business and beyond.

Women play a crucial role in modern organizations. In leadership and managerial decision-making, they often bring a broader perspective, considering not only strategy and performance, but also the impact on teams, organizational culture, and the long-term sustainability of decisions.

In our Executive MBA program, we deeply appreciate the women who take on the demanding journey of executive education while balancing senior professional roles, personal responsibilities, and an intensive study schedule.

At the same time, they bring something invaluable to the classroom: perspective, energy, and a dynamic way of thinking that enriches discussions and strengthens the learning experience for everyone.

To our participants, alumnae, faculty, and colleagues: thank you for the leadership, insight, and impact you bring every day.

❓What connects Swiss watchmaking with modern retail?
How can an influence the courage to make a major career move?

For Michal Janda, the answer lies in finding a “red thread”. The ability to build on tradition while continuously pushing boundaries.

After many years at OMV, where he advanced through several marketing and retail leadership roles from Marketing Manager for the Czech and Slovak markets to Convenience Retail Manager, Michal made a significant career step at the end of his Executive MBA journey, moving into the position of Shop & Gastro Director Czech Republic at ORLEN Unipetrol.

“The MBA brought me not only new tools and methods, but above all self-confidence and the courage to change.”

An international study visit to Switzerland added a new perspective. Observing the precision behind Swiss watchmaking helped reframe innovation — not as chaos, but as structured, continuous improvement grounded in quality and long-term thinking.

What stood out most from his journey?
▪️ — innovation as systematic improvement, not disruption for its own sake.
▪️ — moving from ex*****on toward broader perspective and systems thinking.
▪️ — learning to frame problems differently through an international context.
▪️ — classmates becoming a trusted personal advisory group.

Michal’s story shows that executive education is not only about knowledge. It is about changing how leaders think, decide, evolve, and grow their confidence.
