The second week for our High School Summer Abroad students is just kicking off, and it’s already jam-packed with learning and fun! Our Automotives & Engineering students arrived just a week ago and have already gone through orientation, had their first classes, explored some highlights in Berlin like the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie, and have gotten to partake in some super fun excursions!

Students explored the DDR Museum, saw more Berlin highlights by boat tour, had a visit from Tesla, explored Potsdam, and even got together for a picnic at Tempelhofer Feld! This weekend, Automotives & Engineering students can look forward to a great few days in Munich!

What an exciting week it’s been for our high school Language and Culture students!

Last week, they visited the iconic dome of the Deutscher Bundestag—Germany’s federal parliament building. While the dome was unfortunately closed for construction, students enjoyed the panoramic view of downtown Berlin.

Over the weekend, students ventured into Berlin’s wooded outskirts to see Teufelsberg—a Cold War era US spy station that’s been turned into a photogenic and globally recognized center for street art.

Happy Friday from our Global Entrepreneurship group!

The first few days have been busy as this group has finished up orientation, settled into their homestays, and gotten their first chance to explore Berlin.

Two highlights of the week came as the students visited the Futurium, a unique museum dedicated to exploring how we will all live together in the future.

The second highlight was a site visit to the HelloFresh offices, where students had the opportunity to hear from professionals about the company’s growth, innovation strategies, and the challenges and opportunities involved in building a global business.

This weekend, the Global Entrepreneurship group is off to the Spreewald, where they’ll experience another side of Germany while continuing to build connections with one another.

It’s been a busy first few days for our Engineering & Innovation students, and they’re just getting started!

After orientation and their first class, the group had the chance to explore the city and visit the Deutsches Technikmuseum, where they explored everything from historic aircraft and trains to exhibits showcasing the innovations that have shaped our modern world.

In the next few days, the group will continue to settle in while exploring more of Berlin’s unique museums and attractions. This weekend, they’ll be heading south to Potsdam for a day trip. Stay tuned for more updates from their summer abroad experience!

Following their arrival, our high school Engineering & Music Production students hit the ground running: they explored their local Kiez and got to know their new temporary home, then saw some of Berlin’s essential sights and learned some of its history in a guided tour of the city’s center.

Today we welcomed the first session of students from four of our High School Summer Abroad programs to the CIEE family! All students arrived safely and were greeted at the airport by CIEE staff before heading to our center to kick off orientation and begin their Berlin adventure.

Over the next few weeks, students in Automotives & Engineering, Global Entrepreneurship, Engineering & Innovation, and Engineering & Music Production will have the opportunity to explore the city, learn from local experts, and experience all that Berlin has to offer. We can’t wait to see what they discover along the way!

Today, high school students from our Language and Culture program shared an afternoon of games and relaxation at the beautiful Viktoriapark in Kreuzberg.
