Today was the seventh and final day of ELDP’s annual grantee training.

Today, grantees presented how they used the training to prepare their project, the data management of the materials and how they are planning to annotate their materials.

At the end of the day, Nomakhwezi Becker performed “Home in the In-Between” in the Arena of the Humboldt Forum.

We would like to thank all the grantees and our guest trainers for a wonderful week of learning from each other!

ELDP hosted the sixth day of its annual grantee training on the theory and methods of language documentation and archiving from June 3 to June 10, 2026.

Today, with Mandana Seyfeddinipur, grantees learned about the importance of metadata, how to create metadata with Lameta and how to archive their recordings in ELAR.

Today, Kelsey Neely and Shuan Karim are teaching grantees how to use ELAN for transcribing and translating conversation, and how to gloss texts with FLEx.

Today, Pierpaolo di Carlo introduced Internet in Box, which creates a local network that allows access to the collected data even without internet access.

ELDP hosted the second day of its annual grantee training on the theory and methods of language documentation and archiving from June 3 to June 10, 2026.

Today, grantees focused on semantics and lexicography, including annotation in ELAN and creating lexical databases in FLEx, taught by Kelsey Neely and supported by Pierpaolo di Carlo and Shuan Karim.

Today, we welcomed our 2026 grantees to Berlin. The day started off with sessions on understanding ELAR collections and techniques for recording quality audio in the field led by Mandana Seyfeddinipur and Kelsey Neely.
