Last week, Universitat CEU Abat Oliba, took part in the Annual Conference of the European University Association (EUA), one of the most relevant forums for higher education cooperation in Europe.
The conference, held at Yeditepe University (Istanbul) under the theme “University cooperation in changing contexts”, brought together university leaders and policymakers to discuss the future of collaboration in education, research and innovation in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment.

CEU UAO was represented by Swen Seebach, Vice-Rector for Quality, University Strategy and Internationalisation, who actively contributed to the conference programme. The University presented its strategic vision in the session “Bridging sectors, boosting innovation: why cooperation matters in R&I”, emphasising the role of European University Alliances, such as EUonAIR, in fostering cross-sector collaboration and strengthening innovation ecosystems.

The discussions strongly resonated with EUonAIR’s mission to reinforce cooperation between universities and external stakeholders, promoting joint approaches to research, innovation and societal impact across Europe.

Participation in the conference provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen institutional networks, exchange best practices with European partners and explore new collaborative pathways that support EUonAIR’s long-term objectives.

As a significant outcome of this engagement, Vice-Rector Swen Seebach received an invitation to collaborate with the Research and Innovation Unit of the European University Association (EUA), acknowledging the strategic relevance of CEU UAO’s contribution and its alignment with the broader goals of European university cooperation promoted by EUonAIR.

EUonAIR presented to HTW Berlin’s Academic Senate

EUonAIR reached an important milestone at HTW Berlin this April, as the alliance was presented to the Academic Senate by Prof. Dr. Katharina Simbeck.

Addressing the committe including President, Chancellor, Vice-Presidents and representatives of professors, staff and students, the presentation highlighted the growing role of European University Alliances and positioned EUonAIR as a key driver of internationalisation at HTW Berlin.

The session focused on the alliance’s mission and its strategic relevance for the university. Key highlights included an overview of the partner universities and their work packages, an introduction to the virtual campus MyAI University, and concrete opportunities for students and academic staff to engage in international teaching, learning and collaboration.

The presentation also demonstrated how EUonAIR is already being implemented at HTW Berlin, for example through joint Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) with partner institutions.

Presenting EUonAIR at the Academic Senate significantly increases the alliance’s visibility within the university, raises awareness across all levels, and lays the foundation for strengthening collaboration within the European University framework. This marks an important step towards further embedding EUonAIR in the university’s structures and expanding its activities in the months ahead.

In early May, CUDE Week took place at HTW BerlinW Berlin, bringing together students from the of Culture and Design (CUDE). During the week, the Wilhelminenhof campus was transformed into a vibrant creative space, offering interdisciplinary courses open to all students across culture and design programs.
EUonAIR Research Assistant Morten Newe hosted the workshop KI:TCHEN, where participants explored how artificial intelligence can be integrated into creative processes. Working with both language models and diffusion models such as FLUX, students developed their own creative concepts.
The results were concept art illustrations based on self-developed game or film scenarios. Students created and researched their own settings, visualizing how buildings, characters, or objects might appear within them.
Morten emphasized that his goal was to show students that AI does not simply generate images, but functions as a tool within a workflow that relies heavily on human decision-making, curation, and editing.
