Glimpses from “Awakening Alexandria”, the second edition of the “Alexandria: Urban Media Arts” series

An interactive journey that reimagined Alexandria’s dormant cultural infrastructures through sound, live performances, projection, interactive storytelling, collective participation, and urban memory.

What began as an elective module for third-year students at the Faculty of Fine Arts gradually transformed into a living space for experimentation, collaboration, discussions, and continuous energy between students from different disciplines, tutors, the community, and the city itself.

Thank you to everyone who joined the experience, interacted with the projects, shared memories, connected threads, and became part of this collective journey.

This was not just an exhibition…
It was an attempt to simulate the cultural scene of Downtown Alexandria and reactivate its cultural fabric.

لمحات من معرض «إحياء الإسكندرية»، النسخة الثانية من سلسلة «الإسكندرية: الفنون والوسائط الحضرية المتعددة»

رحلة تفاعلية أعادت تخيّل البنية التحتية الثقافية الراكدة في مدينة الإسكندرية، من خلال الصوت، والعروض الحية، والإسقاطات الضوئية، والسرد التفاعلي، والمشاركة الجماعية، والذاكرة الحضرية.

ما بدأ كمقرر اختياري لطلاب الفرقة الثالثة بكلية الفنون الجميلة، تحوّل إلى مساحة حيّة للتجريب، والتعاون، والنقاشات، والطاقة المستمرة بين طلبة من تخصصات مختلفة، والأساتذة، والمجتمع، والمدينة نفسها.

شكرًا لكل من شاركنا التجربة، وتفاعل مع المشاريع، وشارك ذكرياته، وربط الخيوط، وأصبح جزءًا من هذه الرحلة الجماعية.

كانت تلك محاولة لمحاكاة المشهد الثقافي لوسط مدينة الإسكندرية، وتنشيط نسيجها الثقافي.

“Green Futures Forum: Connecting Innovation, Education & Community”

We are pleased to invite academics, researchers, engineers, industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and everyone interested in sustainability and innovation to attend the Pro-GREEN-LABs Networking Event.

The event is part of the EU-funded Pro-GREEN-LABs Project, implemented in collaboration with Alexandria University, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and several international universities and institutions.

The forum aims to foster collaboration between academia, industry, and the business sector while promoting sustainability, innovation, and green skills development.

“Rural Heritage: Source of Inspiration and a Driver of Development”

We are pleased to share some images capturing the progress and key moments of the Egyptian Team of the International Workshop dedicated to exploring rural heritage as a source of inspiration and a driver of sustainable development.
Organized by the Higher School of Architecture, Audiovisual and Design (ESAD), in partnership with the National School of Architecture and Urban Planning (ENAU), (Tunisia) the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University (Egypt), as well as the Centre of Excellence for Heritage Innovation, University of Portsmouth (UK).
The workshop was coordinated by the Scientific Committee:

The Spring School Retrofitting for Resilience - Case Study: Victor Emmanuel Square

✨ A New Milestone ✨

We are pleased to announce the first international scientific publication documenting the activities of the City Transformation Lab (CT Lab), Faculty of Fine Arts – Alexandria University, through a chapter in the report:
International Knowledge Exchanges in Architecture and Urban Planning, published by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), 2026.

The publication positions our work within a broader regional framework among schools of architecture & planning across the Euro-Mediterranean region, fostering collaboration & shared academic initiatives.

It shows that knowledge exchange is not only conceptual, but a practice capable of empowering students & researchers, local capacities & innovative solutions rooted from Mediterranean urban contexts.

It also bridges academic research with policy-making & professional practice, supporting more resilient, inclusive & sustainable cities.

International Knowledge Exchanges in Architecture and Urban Planning
الصادر عن الاتحاد من أجل المتوسط (UfM) لعام 2026.

هذا النشر ينقل خبراتنا إلى نطاق إقليمي أوسع ضمن مدارس العمارة والتخطيط في المنطقة اليورو-متوسطية، لتعزيز تبادل المعرفة ودعم شراكات أكاديمية ممتدة.

ويعكس أن تبادل المعرفة ليس مجرد إطار نظري، بل ممارسة قادرة على تمكين الطلاب والباحثين والقدرات المحلية، وابتكار حلول تنبع من السياقات الحضرية المتوسطية.

ويعزز أهمية الربط بين البحث الأكاديمي وصنع القرار والممارسة المهنية، في مواجهة التحديات الحضرية، لمدن أكثر مرونة وشمولًا واستدامة.
