The motivation for self directed learning is highly present in children. At Kompass we believe that this motivation should be kept alive because future personal success depends on it. Therefore, the active self-learning child is the underlying idea and the goal of our educational concept. We practice a "dialogical pedagogy” which focuses on the importance of the Child's active involvement in his o

r her individual learning process. Unlike traditional education, we offer a curriculum that is not equal for all children. Our curriculum focuses on the individual child and this is reflected in our consciously designed learning environment and the way our teachers interact with each child. The activities are based on the scale of childhood learning steps and are designed to allow each child to have the relevant experience in the things they need to learn. In addition, we offer the child an opportunity to deal with themes which match our cultural understanding of education including, for example classical music, art and architecture, painting or even a world map. Our Kindergarten is a meeting place for families and children from more than 20 countries with different cultural and religious backgrounds. Children make friends from all over the world. We see this cultural awareness and appreciation of difference as a very special opportunity for our children. The joint negotiation of rules, finding solutions as a team, respect and the ability to defend oneself or even dealing with stronger, weaker, older and younger people are all normal learning processes in the everyday life at our kindergarten. Our educational program for children is a sophisticated "Open House Learning” system. Where children don’t just receive specific educational offers but have access to a wide range of educational activities indoors and outdoors the entire day. Where the native speaking teachers communicate with the children in their mother tongues (English, German and Arabic) Where there is a possibility to learn and play in both mixed and same age groups. Where each child has their set place in a nest group that meets daily. And one teacher who is a contact person for both the child and the parents.

Summer days are made for discovery.

At Kompass Kindergarten garden, the children explored shadows, sunshine, stones, and sticky surprises through hands-on summer activities designed around their natural curiosity. From tracing dinosaur shadows to experimenting with different textures and materials, every moment became an opportunity to wonder, investigate, and learn.

The best summer learning happens when children are free to explore, play, and make their own discoveries.

Wiedersehen nach 17 Jahren
Back after 17 years

We had the joy of welcoming a family whose children were at Kompass many years ago. They returned to Egypt to revisit their old life, and Kompass was a big part of it.

It was special to reconnect after so many years. To remember a time when their children were still so young, and to see who they have become today.

It reminded us that early childhood does not simply pass. It stays with us, shaping how we feel, connect, and remember, often in ways we only understand much later.

Thank you, Elisabeth and Christian, for coming back with your children to visit. Es hat uns von Herzen gefreut.

Exploring Sound & Light at Kompass

Our school young learners became scientists for a day, as they explored high and low sounds, investigated how light travels through different materials, and discovered how shadows are created.

Through hands-on experiments, they learned the difference between transparent, translucent, and opaque objects while strengthening their observation, language, and early reading skills.

At Kompass, children learn by asking questions, exploring, and discovering the world around them.

Verona. What a few days.

Our Kompass boys and girls at the Mediterranean Cup, full energy from the first minute to the last.

The boys took 1st.
The girls 2nd.
And our girls’ goalkeeper was named best goalkeeper.

But honestly, it’s not just that.

It’s the way they played.
The way they stood up for each other.
The energy on and off the pitch.

One of our older students joined as an assistant coach, stepping into the role with care and responsibility. That matters just as much.

A strong team around them.
Parents there in Verona, others cheering from home.
You could feel it everywhere.

This is Kompass.
