Some moments are worth the wait… and this one definitely was. ✨

Last Thursday marked the first edition of GUC’s Battle of the Bands — and what a night it was. Fierce competition, a very tough selection process, and most importantly: an explosion of original music, standout performances, and an incredible crowd that carried the energy from start to finish.

Ohoude Khadr — opera singer, cultural manager, and visionary leader shaping the future of music education.

An alumna of the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, Ohoude is a DAAD–Sawiris Foundation scholar with a career spanning performance, cultural management, and international collaboration.

From founding the GUC Music Academy to leading it today as Head of Department, she has built a multi-campus platform that connects artistic excellence with education, community, and cross-cultural exchange. Her work bridges stages, institutions, and industries—from the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to large-scale projects like The Pyramids Echo.

Meet today’s judge: Magued Nagati 🥁

Egyptian drummer, performer & educator shaping Cairo’s music scene for over two decades. Co-founder and active member of Glass Onion, Kahareb and Bahiyya — three bands that have left their mark on the local and regional scene with diverse styles ranging from classic rock influences to original Arabic projects and fusion sounds.

Alongside his performance career, Magued has built a strong legacy as a music educator, teaching at leading international schools and institutions such as the GUC Music School and mentoring generations of young musicians.

A versatile performer, session musician and dedicated mentor — bringing rhythm, depth and decades of experience to the stage.
