Selamat Petang dan Selamat Datang kepada semua!

Terlebih dahulu saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Tuan Yang Terutama Tun kerana sudi menghadiri upacara penutup dan penyampaian piala jaguh dalam Kejohanan Squash Wanita Sedunia kali ke-29 yang buat ulung-ulung kalinya dilangsungkan di Pulau Pinang. Kita semua juga terhutang budi atas kehadiran Toh Puan untuk menyaksikan puncak akhir kejohanan yang penuh mendebarkan hati semua.

Adalah satu penghormatan besar kepada kerajaan Pulau Pinang untuk diberikan tanggungjawab menganjurkan kejohanan sedunia skuash ini sungguhpun ia dijalankan kali pertama. Rakyat Pulau Pinang boleh rasa bangga bahawa kita dapat menjayakan penganjurannya dengan baik malah penuh istimewa sekali sungguhpun diberikan masa 2 bulan sahaja. Memang ini adalah kejohanan yang kita mahu menempa selama-lamanya dalan ingatan pemain-pemain baik dalam atau luar negeri.

The Penang State Government is proud that in our first foray as host for the 29th Penang & CIMB Women's World Championship, we have managed to pull it off successfully even though with the limited time of 2 months given. Penang wanted to put on a good show to make sure that this tournament would be the finest because you are “Simply the Best!”.
We have been told that this is the most spectacular World Women Championship ever right from the organization down to the amazing opening ceremony. We just want to make it “Simply The Best!”.

All this is down to our event organizer Mr Thomas Chan of Nusmetro. From the Penang state government our State EXCO Madam Chong Eng and my Sports Special Officer Ms Lily Heng. We want to thank again the title sponsors CIMB Group and PBAPP for supporting squash and also SP Setia for sponsoring the beautiful Sub-terranean Penang International Convention & Exhibition (SPICE) Arena. Also all the other developers and sponsors thank you.

We congratulate the officials and the players for their sportsmanship and competitive spirit. Today we witness the crowning of a new world champion in women squash. Penang had hoped to cap off the organization of this successful world championship by witnessing the historic occasion of our very own Dato Nicol David winning her record 8th championship.

But this was not meant to be. Much as we are pained by her loss in yesterday semis, I on behalf of the Penang state government and all Malaysians want to salute you Nicol. And deliver this special message,

“What marks a true champion is one that gets back up quickly. We know you are a true champion and all Penang is proud of the champion in you. You have brought 7 glory years to Malaysia as a world champion and you will always have a special place in our hearts.

We know you will never give up and neither shall we. You have given us much and we want to say we love you.

Because …. You are… simply the best!”

Finally let me thank all the players, volunteers, Squash Association of Penang and Malaysia. We hope that your stay has been enjoyable. This tournament attracted huge participation ever from the public because of the unique community spirit found in Penang.


The community spirit in Penang of learning together, working together, and celebrating together. We believe that this community spirit is the basic premise of success and happiness. We hope that you will come back and see us again.

《第29届世界女子壁球锦标赛》闭幕典礼
槟州首席部长林冠英致词稿摘要

槟州政府感到骄傲，在短短的两个月内成功筹办了《第29届世界女子壁球锦标赛》，这也是槟城史上首次承办这项国际锦标赛。我们全力以赴，决心要把这次的国际锦标赛做到最好，因为我们想告诉大家，每个我们都是最好的！

我们被告知，这场盛事是史上最棒的一次，从组织到开幕典礼，皆叫人叹为观止。这一切，只因我们一心一意，要这场大赛成为最好的！

谢谢筹委会主席、槟州行政议员章瑛、我的体育运动官员王丽丽成就这次的美好。我们不忘感激CIMB集团、槟州供水机构的支持，还有SP Setia赞助场地，当然，各发展商等各单位的鼎力支持，谢谢你们！

祝贺各位参与的选手们，因为你们展现了无与伦比的体育竞争精神。作为东道主，槟州自然希望可以在见证槟城人妮柯夺下个人的第八次世界冠军，以作为此次锦标赛的完美句号。

但事与愿违，我们都对她昨天的落败感到难过，即便如此，我仍要代表槟州政府和所有马来西亚人向妮柯表达敬意，同时传递这个讯息：

真正的强者不是没有失败过，而是跌倒之后能够很快地东山再起。我们都知道妳是真正的强者、真正的冠军，整个槟城都在为你感到骄傲。你已给我们带来了7个世界冠军的宝座，未来，你将会继续在每个我们的心里，占据特别的位子。

我们知道妳从来没有放弃，而我们也一样。妳带给我们的太多了，我们要跟你说，我们爱你，因为，你是最好的！

最後，我要感激所有的选手、志工、槟州壁球协会与大马壁球总会。希望你们有个愉快的经验。这次的比赛，吸引了广大大民众的踊跃参与，也彰显槟城独特社区精神。在这精神之下，我们相互学习、工作、欢庆。我们深信，这种精神将能带来成功与幸福。我们希望大家将来还会再见面！
