What if architecture's greatest lessons are still waiting to be built?
One hundred years after his passing, Antoni Gaudí continues to reveal new ideas to the world.
As part of Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026, the exhibition *Learning from Gaudí in the 21st Century* presents, for the first time, previously unseen works by Gaudí brought to life through advanced 3D modelling and fabrication. Lost designs, unbuilt projects, and forgotten visions—including proposals such as the Franciscan Missions in Tangier, Casa Graner, the Pomaret Bridge, and a lamp designed for the Sagrada Família—are finally emerging from sketches into reality.
But this exhibition is not only about looking back.
It asks a much bigger question:
**How would Gaudí design today?**
At a moment when Barcelona becomes the global capital of architectural innovation, researchers, architects, designers, and visionaries are gathering to explore the convergence of nature, computation, genetics, artificial intelligence, digital fabrication, and architecture through the 6th International Conference on Biodigital Architecture & Genetic Design.
From unbuilt masterpieces to biodigital futures, a new generation is learning how to transform visionary ideas into built reality.
The future of architecture belongs to those who can imagine beyond what already exists.
Just as Gaudí did.

Barcelona is no longer just a city of architecture.
In 2026, it becomes the world's architectural laboratory.
As the officially designated World Capital of Architecture, Barcelona will host some of the most visionary minds shaping the future of our built environment. Among the landmark events is the 6th International Conference for Biodigital Architecture & Genetics, bringing together pioneers working at the intersection of biology, genetics, artificial intelligence, digital fabrication, parametric design, hybrid ecologies, and radical sustainability.
This is where architecture moves beyond inspiration from nature and begins to learn, evolve, and innovate with it.
Imagine studying in the same ecosystem where researchers, architects, scientists, and innovators are redefining how cities, buildings, materials, and living systems interact. Imagine engaging directly with conversations that will shape the next generation of architecture. Imagine being part of a movement rather than simply observing it.
From Gaudí's legacy to biodigital futures, Barcelona is becoming the global stage for a new architectural paradigm.
The future is not being discussed. It is being built.

🌍✨ THE FUTURE OF ARCHITECTURE IS BEING BUILT NOW.
What happens when biology, artificial intelligence, digital fabrication, genetics, sustainability, and visionary design converge?
Barcelona is becoming the stage for a global conversation on the future of our cities.
As part of the World Capital of Architecture programme, architects, researchers, designers, and innovators are gathering to explore radical new ways of imagining the built environment. From living systems and bio-inspired design to advanced computational technologies and regenerative urban futures, the dialogue continues through the exhibition and event Barcelona, Door to Europe – Project 17 SDG Barcelona Seafront, a visionary proposal for the future of the Mediterranean city.
At the intersection of these transformations stands one of the world's pioneering educational platforms in Biodigital Architecture—a field where nature, computation, genetics, AI, parametric design, digital fabrication, and advanced material systems converge to redefine architecture for the 21st century. For more than two decades, the programme has connected emerging designers with leading international researchers and innovators in this rapidly evolving discipline.
This is more than architecture.
It is where biology meets technology.
Where research becomes innovation.
Where imagination becomes reality.
Where the next generation of architectural pioneers is being formed.
Barcelona is not just discussing the future.
Barcelona is prototyping it.

🔥 DESIGN THE FUTURE. GROW THE FUTURE. FABRICATE THE FUTURE. 🔥
Applications are NOW OPEN for the BioDigital Architecture Master 2026–2027 — and the next generation of radical thinkers, makers, coders, bio-designers, architects, engineers, artists, and innovators is called to Barcelona. 🌍⚡
This is not a conventional architecture master.
This is an interdisciplinary laboratory where advanced computational design, AI-driven workflows, digital fabrication, biotechnology, biomaterials synthesis, and bioreactor integration merge into one experimental ecosystem to redefine the future of architecture and sustainability.
Inspired by the visionary complexity of Gaudí and the surreal imagination of Gaudí and Dalí, the program explores architecture through:
🧬 Biotechnology & living systems
🤖 Advanced computational design
🖨️ Robotic & digital fabrication
🌱 Biomaterials research
♻️ Sustainable architectural systems
🌀 Complexity theories & emergent systems
🌍 The UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals
🎨 Cultural, historical & speculative design research
Students gain direct access to an advanced fabrication ecosystem including:
⚙️ XL Felix 3D Printer
🏺 2 Clay 3D Printers
🧫 Bioprinter
🔪 Laser Cutter
