"Ms. Ira, MAHIRAP PO BA MAG-ARAL NG MASTER'S sa Spain?"
PART 1 🇪🇸✨
The first few weeks of my 1-year student life in Spain…
I arrived in Girona before classes started, trying to build a new life from scratch at 30+.
In just a short time:
• I settled into a new city alone
• Celebrated my birthday by myself
• Attended orientation week
• Got sick 🤒
• Learned how to clean and survive independently
• Started my Master’s classes
• Joined local celebrations and events
• And tried my best not to overfeed Thor 🐶😅
Moving abroad looks exciting online — and it is — but there are also lonely, uncomfortable, and overwhelming moments people don’t always show.
This wasn’t just a “study abroad” year for me.
It was a year of completely rebuilding myself.
And honestly? I’m glad I documented the REAL experience, not just the aesthetic parts.
If you’re dreaming of studying in Spain too, preparation matters more than people think.
✨ I created a 96-page DIY Guide based on my real experience:
✔️ Step-by-step Spain student visa process
✔️ School research tips
✔️ Apostille + sworn translations
✔️ Cost breakdowns
✔️ Housing & post-arrival setup
✔️ My student-to-work visa journey

"Ms. Ira, MAHIRAP PO BA MAKAHANAP NG WORK sa Spain?"
Can you get a job in Spain after studying? 🇪🇸
(The honest, uncomfortable truth)
Yes… but it’s HARD.
Even if you speak Spanish, Catalan (in Barcelona), and English fluently.
Even if you’re skilled.
Even if you try your absolute best.
Here’s what people don’t really tell you:
👉 Locals struggle to find jobs
👉 Foreigners struggle even more
👉 Getting a company to sponsor your work permit can honestly feel like winning the lottery
For me, it took:
• 6 months
• Hundreds of applications
• And accepting a role that wasn’t ideal at first — just to stay
Some of my friends have been job hunting for over a year. A lot of it is persistence, timing, paperwork… and luck.
After your student visa, things get even more challenging because:
• Companies may not want to wait months for paperwork approval
• Your job usually needs to be related to your studies
• Spain’s job market is already competitive
I’m not saying this to discourage you.
I’m saying this because I want people to come here INFORMED — not romanticizing life abroad from TikTok clips or agency promises alone.
Spain gave me amazing experiences, but it also challenged me in ways I never expected.
✨ If you’re serious about studying in Spain, preparation matters.
That’s exactly why I created my 96-page DIY Guide:
✔️ Step-by-step student visa process
✔️ Real costs & budgeting
✔️ Apostille + sworn translation guide
✔️ Housing tips
✔️ Post-arrival setup

"Ms. Ira, TOO LATE NA PO BA if mag-start ako mag-process ng student visa?"
I've always been on the cautious side. Ayoko ng nagmamadali, nagc-cram. I knew from the very beginning that I can do my student visa process DIY so I had to prepare well. And TIME was my ally.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when applying for a Spain student visa? 🇪🇸
❌ Starting too late.
A lot of requirements take time:
• School applications
• Apostille
• Sworn translations
• Financial preparation
• BLS appointments
• Visa processing itself
That’s why planning early can save you:
✔️ Stress
✔️ Delays
✔️ Expensive mistakes
This timeline is based on both my own experience and what I’ve generally observed from other applicants.
✨ If you want a full step-by-step breakdown, I created a 96-page DIY Guide to help Filipinos prepare properly for their Spain student visa journey.
