‘One of the best groups ever’! ❤️🎉

Last week, our Year 7 students had the absolute privilege of taking part in the unforgettable Natural High assembly with David Graham – and what an incredible experience it was!
From start to finish, the energy in the room was electric. Our students fully embraced the session, throwing themselves into every activity, showing real courage, positivity and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. It was fantastic to see so many of them getting involved, supporting one another and truly showing their best selves.
We are so proud of the way our Year 7s represented Saltley Academy – their enthusiasm, respect and engagement did not go unnoticed, and they should feel incredibly proud of themselves.
A huge thank you, as always, to David Graham for delivering such an inspiring and impactful session. Your visits are always a highlight of the Year 7 experience, and this year was no exception!
We’re already looking forward to the next one! 👏✨

On Monday 26th January, the JCC team visited Saltley School to deliver in-school admissions interviews.

These visits form an important part of our commitment to widening access and supporting progression into further education.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with our partner schools.

The Madrid crew are safely back in Birmingham 🇪🇸✈️ What an incredible group of young people — they’ve been amazing from start to finish and represented the school so proudly throughout the trip. We couldn’t be prouder of them.
Now it’s straight into the next adventure… good luck to them all as they head off on work experience tomorrow — go and smash it! 💪🌟

A welcome break in the downpour this evening meant a lovely little surprise for our Saltley Superstars 🍦✨
We treated the kids to a late ice-cream stop, which definitely lifted spirits after a very wet day! Smiles all round and a perfect way to end the evening 🌧️➡️🌈⭐️

Despite the rain, we made the most of our final full day in Madrid ☔️🇪🇸
This morning we visited the Town Hall before heading to the incredible Museo del Prado, where pupils admired some truly beautiful Spanish paintings and sculptures.
With torrential rain setting in this evening, we treated the group to a takeaway back at the hotel — a well-earned cosy end to a very busy trip. They’re now busy packing up ready to head home tomorrow. It’s flown by far too quickly… what an unforgettable experience! 💙✨

😊🇪🇸 What a day in Madrid!
This morning we explored the incredible Royal Palace and the beautiful Almudena Cathedral, followed by a lot of walking around the city. Pupils then put their Spanish to the test during some free time in a local shopping mall, confidently practising their phrases with members of the public.
We finished the day in the best way possible with a traditional paella, followed by the famous (and very much enjoyed!) pastel de nata.
The pupils have continued to impress us at every turn and have represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. We couldn’t be prouder — what an experience and what a day! 🌟

🇪🇸 Madrid Trip Update 🇪🇸
What a brilliant day we’ve had in Madrid! Pupils confidently navigated public transport before spending the day at our partner school, taking part in games and creating podcasts alongside Spanish students — a fantastic opportunity to build friendships and practise their language skills.
We ended the day with a wonderful meal at a lovely Lebanese restaurant, where the manager even came over to thank us for “our amazing kids” — which says it all really. We couldn’t be prouder of them.
Now it’s time for a well-earned rest after a very busy (and very successful!) day. 🌙✨

Our pupils are just outside a local Spanish school, moments away from going in for their visit. They’re excited to experience school life in Spain, practise their Spanish, and immerse themselves in the culture first-hand.
