Day 2 of the Veivueti Ocean Conference was filled with meaningful learning and action. Students participated in a shoreline cleanup, collecting rubbish and sorting it into categories such as plastics, cans, and other waste materials. They then weighed the collected items to better understand the impact pollution has on our marine ecosystems and marine life.
The day also included a visit to the Marine Science facilities at The University of the South Pacific, where students gained valuable insights into ocean conservation and research.
Our senior students delivered presentations showcasing the work they have undertaken in the Western Division, from identifying environmental issues and their causes, to analyzing impacts, implementing actions, and advocating for sustainable solutions. The afternoon concluded with engaging and meaningful workshops that inspired students to continue being champions for ocean conservation.
It was a wonderful two-day event hosted by International School Suva. Over the past three years, the conference has continued to grow and make a positive impact, and we are grateful for its ongoing success.
A special thank you to Hannah Nanovu for her dedication, hard work, and passion, as well as the entire ISS team for making this inspiring event possible.
