After months of experiments, brainstorming, and teamwork, we finally reached the iGEM Grand Jamboree.
Although all the work we put into our project met the medal criteria, unexpected technical issues with the iGEM website prevented Living Scaffolds from being evaluated for medals this year. Of course this was frustrating after such an intense journey, but it doesn’t take away from what we built together.
We are incredibly proud of our project and of everything we learned along the way. During the Grand Jamboree, our work was recognized and appreciated by judges, fellow teams, and companies we had the chance to meet and talk with. That support meant a lot to us.
Science is rarely a straight line, and this experience reminded us that the value of a project goes far beyond an official result. What truly matters are the ideas we developed, the collaborations we created, and the team we became.
And most importantly, thank you to the girlies for the adventure, the endless anecdotes, the laughs, the stress, the late nights, and for making this experience so deeply human. 💖
✨ iGEM 2025, what a journey

From pipettes to posters, from late days in the lab to long discussions about outreach, this journey has been so much more than just a project. 🧬✨
Over the past months, our team explored ideas, tested hypotheses, shared science, and connected with our community. The wetlab challenged our curiosity and persistence, while our communication work reminded us why synthetic biology matters beyond the lab.
What started as a group of students became a real team, supporting each other, learning together, and pushing LIVING SCAFFOLDS forward step by step.
This post is just a glimpse of the many moments that shaped our iGEM adventure. Thank you to everyone who supported, advised, collaborated, and believed in our project.
And most importantly, thank you to this incredible girly team. 💖
The experiment may end here, but the curiosity and friendships built along the way will continue far beyond iGEM.

💥 What if fixing broken bones was as simple as a shot of science?
Meet Living Scaffolds — our slightly mad but totally genius project to take bone regeneration to the next level. 🧬🦴
We’re cooking up a living, bioactive scaffold wrapped in a comfy hydrogel blanket, designed to help bones knit back together stronger and in a better and faster way.
Our secret weapon? ✨ Melanin-producing bacteria that boost regeneration from the inside out 🔥
Between cells, biomaterials, and a touch of microbial magic, we’re building something solid for the future of regenerative medicine 💡
Because science should be alive — and so should your bones!
