Today, we visited students completing their Be Ambitious Week work placements at Konnect Radio, CJE Official Ltd and Community Green.

At Konnect Radio, students have been getting involved behind the scenes of a live national radio show, while at CJE Official Ltd they have been assisting with dress fittings, packaging orders and website photography. Meanwhile, students at Community Green have been supporting the local community and helping out on the allotment.

It’s fantastic to see them embracing the world of work, developing new skills and gaining valuable experience along the way. We hope they continue to make the most of the opportunities available throughout the week!

Today marks the launch of Be Ambitious Week 2026! Throughout the week, students will take part in work placements, employer-led projects and a range of in-college workshops, all designed to provide valuable experiences and develop key employability skills.

This morning’s launch event began with a welcome from Rachel Smirke, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Progression, before students heard from guest speaker Tim Lowther, an international QSR and franchise growth leader with 25 years’ experience. Together, they set a positive tone for the week ahead and encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities available to them.

We’re looking forward to seeing everything our students achieve over the course of the week! 🌟

A huge well done to our A1 Media Studies students, who have partnered with Tameside Hospital and Tameside Radio to create a special radio broadcast celebrating the work of Patient Experience Volunteers.

The students led the entire production process, from interviews and recording to editing the final programme.

An incredible achievement and a brilliant example of learning beyond the classroom! 👏 https://www.asfc.ac.uk/home/student-life/news-2/new-page-58/

Our Young Enterprise team had a fantastic experience at the UK Final in Cardiff last week! 🌟

The students spent the day at Cardiff Business School, meeting inspiring entrepreneurs, including the founder of Rituals, who was impressed by their product. They also took part in an Apprentice-style pitching challenge led by former contestant Mia Collins.

A brilliant opportunity to showcase their business, develop their skills and celebrate everything they have achieved this year. Well done, team! 👏
