There is no need to pay for an expensive tutor for younger home educated children. My resource packs based around stories will provide you with guidance, activities and inspiration to ensure that each new week is fresh and exciting for your home educated children.
Within each pack is a reading programme which I am passionate about- it will suit all ages and types of learners but is particularly effective for children who have tried the phonics approach and struggled.
Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. I am sure that you will not be disappointed and each pack should fill at least 25 hours of learning time- all for the price of a cup of coffee.

There are so many fun activities and the Wonder Wizards crop up throughout adding fun to the learning.

If your child has struggled with the phonics approach to reading, try out my 3 step reading programme which is designed to be high success, low demand, and fun. There are three FREE downloads available on my website- please check it out!

Step 1- Match
Your child will match word cards to a word board. Matching is a way to develop visual discrimination which is an important skill we use when reading. There is no need to 'read' the words at this stage, just focus on matching word cards to the word board. You could also play a game of snap or a pairs games if you print and cut out two sets of the word cards.

Step 2- Identify
This involves putting two word cards on the table, reading one of the words and asking your child to point to the word you said. You can increase the challenge by increasing the number of word cards, or putting out two cards with the same initial sounds. You could place word cards around the room and ask your child to run to the word if they are an active learner!

Step 3- Read
At this point, your child be starting to read words in the context of a whole sentence (isolated words are much harder to read than words within a sentence). The sentences will be 'built' with the word cards that have already been practised. Even if your child requires help to read the sentences, repeated exposure to the words means that eventually they will be committed to the autographic memory from where words are automatically recalled.

The books I have in the pipeline are: Lila and the Secret of Rain (David Conway), Instructions (Neil Gaiman), The Hodgeheg (Dick King-Smith).
I also do stand alone themes such as 'Superheroes' which is a resource pack that I have just added to my website. However, I actually prefer using beautifully written and illustrated stories as the starting point .
I also plan on adding some free resources over the coming days and weeks as I know how expensive home education can be and we can all use a freebie from time to time. My aim is to support families on lower incomes as much as I can with free or low cost resources.
