Sometimes we get so busy building a business that we forget to stop and celebrate how far we’ve come.
Recently, I took a moment to look back at my journey with My Exotic Kitchen and realised just how much has happened over the years.
✨ Teaching hundreds of students how to cook authentic Southeast Asian dishes.
✨ Welcoming people into my home kitchen in Birmingham to learn, cook, laugh, and share great food together.
✨ Creating memorable experiences through group classes, private cooking classes, gift vouchers, and team-building events.
✨ Sharing recipes, cooking tips, and Southeast Asian food culture with a growing online community.
✨ Travelling across Southeast Asia and bringing those authentic flavours, stories, and techniques back to my students.
✨ Taking the leap to create digital products, recipe collections, and new ways to help people cook confidently at home.
This year has also pushed me outside my comfort zone.
I’ve been networking more, entering business awards, attending conferences, and putting myself forward for opportunities I would never have considered a few years ago.
Behind every cooking class, social media post, recipe, and event is a story.
A story of leaving Indonesia, building a life in the UK, sharing the food I grew up with, and helping others discover the joy of authentic Southeast Asian cooking.
Sometimes we only see the finished dish.
But the real story is everything that happens behind the scenes.
And I’m excited for what comes next.
Thank you to everyone who has attended a class, supported my business, shared a recommendation, or followed my journey.
The best part of this story is that it’s still being written. ❤️

One thing I notice often is that students don’t just come once… they come back.
Because each time, they learn something new — a new technique, a new flavour combination, a new level of confidence.
But what they also tell me is this:
“It just feels easy and enjoyable here.”
And I think that’s the most important part of learning to cook — it should never feel stressful.
It should feel fun, relaxed, and full of flavour 💛
