As mathematicians, Year 6 put their problem solving skills to the test. They had to switch frogs and toads in the least number of moves and successful attempts meant they could add another to each side.

Yesterday, 11 Year 6 children took part in the first Princebury Music Festival at St Alban's Church, Conybere St, Birmingham. We were invited by Chandos Primary School and it was a lovely celebration of music! The children who attended have been loyal members of our school choir for many years and they will be missed as they move onto secondary school. Elliot Foundation

Next week is going to be a hot one!

Whilst the amber weather warning remains in place, we are taking additional precautions to keep children safe and comfortable during the school day.

Hollywood pupils will be encouraged to:
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day (ice welcomed);
- Both uniform and PE kits will be accepted while weather warnings are in place;
- Wear sunhats where possible;
- Apply sunscreen before school (children may bring sunscreen to reapply themselves if needed);
- Have access to indoors and shaded areas during break and lunchtimes.

Please note for health and safety purposes, only medical sunglasses should be worn in school and no open-toed shoes are permitted.

This week's Sports Days are POSTPONED. They will all be rescheduled for the following week and new dates will be shared with parents and carers as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support and understanding. Enjoy the sunshine :)

From tiny acorns grow mighty oaks! Well, from tiny seeds, peas and beans grow. We are very proud of our first crop of peas from our Hollywood garden. We also have fragrant herbs growing in abundance. We are so delighted to have homegrown sweet peas brightening up our entrance hall too. The Elliot Foundation

This week in Reception, we have been reading ‘Sharing a Shell’ by Julia Donaldson. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story, learning new vocabulary, and discovering how hermit crabs live. Inspired by the book, they have also been busy creating beautiful cards for some very special people in their lives.

6B went to our long awaited library visit. We had to order books based on surname and number. We also went on a scavenger hunt too. Jo did a great job explaining how the library works and how our pupils can access many things.

Some of our KS1 and Resource Base children had a wonderful treat yesterday as they headed off to Hickory's Smokehouse Earlswood yesterday for their Good Behaviour Breakfast. It is fair to say a good time was had by all!

Hollywood School has joined forces with Birmingham Adult Education Service to offer a range of free courses for parents and carers within our school. Depending on the course chosen, these opportunities may lead to recognised qualifications. All courses will be free to our parents and carers.

Courses will take place in the familiar and safe environment of our school; however, they will be delivered independently by a qualified tutor from the Birmingham Adult Education team. Unfortunately, we do not currently have childcare facilities available, so parents and carers with young children will need to make alternative arrangements in order to attend.

To introduce these exciting opportunities, Birmingham Adult Education will be running a free Arts and Crafts Workshop. This is a great chance to come along, have fun, meet other parents and carers, and learn more about the courses available. There are 12 spaces available, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see the attached flyer for booking information. The Elliot Foundation
