π¨ποΈ **What a super fun activity we had on Friday!**
The children discovered the chalks and chalkboards and eagerly chose what they wanted to draw. It all started when one little one asked me to draw a cake for her doll. She carefully chose lots of different fruits to make it as healthy as possible and decided exactly how many candles it should have!
Before long, she was drawing her own cake and even decorating her doll with chalk, whispering that we "mustn't tell Mum we've made the doll dirty!" π
We enjoyed some wonderful conversations throughout the activity, including chats about Cinderella (see the photo!). Lots of other children soon joined in, sharing ideas, stories, and drawings of their own. We even created a 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' story board together.
Some of the children especially enjoyed rubbing out their pictures and watching the chalk dust fly into the air! There was lots of laughter as they experimented with making marks, wiping them away, and starting all over again.
Activities like these are fantastic for developing communication, imagination, literacy, and early mark-making skills, all while having lots of fun. The session ended with plenty of proud smiles, lots of creativity, and some very messy, chalky hands! ποΈβ¨

π School readiness is about far more than memorising letters, numbers or worksheets.
Young children learn best through everyday experiences that build confidence, communication, independence and self-control. Simple things like play, conversation, movement and problem-solving often prepare children for school far more effectively than formal academic pressure.
Here are some things children donβt necessarily need before starting school and what matters more in the early years.

π A Look Back at May π
What a busy and exciting month we've had at Pre-School!
π We enjoyed some wonderful Stories of the Week:
β’ Week 1: *The Smartest Giant in Town* β with lots of fun visits to the park and pool!
β’ Week 2: *There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly*
β’ Week 3: *The Crunching Munching Caterpillar*
Alongside our stories, the children have been busy exploring through block play, getting creative with messy painting activities, and enjoying plenty of outdoor adventures. We made the most of our garden, visited Moseley Private Park, and even enjoyed trips to Moseley Train Station!
We also spent some time learning about Eid ul Adha and hope all our families had a wonderful time celebrating over the half-term break. πβ¨
To finish the month, we were treated to a beautiful sunny day in the garden β the perfect way to end a fantastic term!
βοΈ Thank you for another wonderful month of learning, exploring, and having fun together.
