Heading to secondary school is a big step for children of all communication levels.

We are spending some of our therapy sessions in schools this term working on helping children prepare for starting high school, and these are our favourite top tips.

Change can bring the opportunity for new experiences and new friends. Focus on the positives and allow yourself and your child to be excited!

This game is just fantastic for working on describing, vocabulary and problem solving as the child has to match the description to the pictures on the board.

One of my favourite parts of the game has always been flicking down the pictures that don't match and seeing only a few faces left.
It can also help to boost a child's confidence when they can see they are close to getting the right answer.

Our Chatterboxes team had another brilliant wellbeing morning with Heather from Luminosa Coaching on Friday.

We spent time exploring confidence, personality styles, organisation and workload strategies. There was plenty of open, honest conversations and support.

External support matters. But sadly it seems to be happening less frequently and schools are receiving only a couple of visits a year from qualified Speech and Language Therapists.

We want to help fix this and put some control back into the hands of schools because communication happens:
