Really great to see Ankit back at DJ Gym as he continues his journey through the Advanced DJ Module.

Already an accomplished guitarist, bass player and all-round musician, Ankit moved to England from India around four or five years ago. Having previously played in bands, DJing became a new creative outlet and passion, particularly within the world of melodic house music.

Alongside developing his music production skills, it’s been fantastic to watch his progress behind the decks. With a strong musical background, Ankit has a great understanding of arrangement, energy and musicality, which naturally translates into his DJing.

At this stage of the course, we’re focusing on refining those advanced techniques and making every transition as smooth and seamless as possible. In melodic house especially, subtle, well-crafted mixes can make all the difference, helping maintain the emotion, flow and atmosphere that make the genre so special.

Keep up the great work, Ankit — it’s been a pleasure watching your journey develop, and we’re looking forward to seeing where it takes you next.

First of all, a huge happy birthday to Holly! 🎉

What an amazing gift from her wife, Lizzie, who treated her to a DJ Gym taster session to explore her love of music and have a go behind the decks.

From the moment Holly stepped into the studio, her passion for music was obvious. Within the first 30 to 45 minutes, she was already picking things up incredibly quickly, taking to the fundamentals of DJing with enthusiasm and confidence. It’s always exciting to see someone discover a new skill, but it’s even more rewarding when you can see just how much they genuinely love the music they’re working with.

During the session, Holly had the opportunity to experience our club industry-standard Pioneer DJ setup, giving her a taste of the equipment used by DJs in clubs and venues around the world. We also spent time on our controller setup, helping her understand the options available for practising at home and showing how the skills learned in the studio translate across different types of equipment.

As with all of our taster sessions, we focus on getting students hands-on and mixing as quickly as possible. While preparation, software and track management play a huge role in modern DJing, we know that most people are excited to get behind the decks and start mixing, so we make sure they get plenty of time doing exactly that.

The most impressive thing about Holly’s session wasn’t just how quickly she picked things up, but the enthusiasm she brought throughout. She approached every challenge with a smile, embraced the learning process, and showed a real natural feel for DJing.

We’re delighted that Holly enjoyed her first experience behind the decks, and we’re excited to see where the journey goes next. We look forward to welcoming her back into the studio soon to continue building on such a fantastic start.

Happy birthday again, Holly, and well done on an amazing first session! 🎧✨

Everyone’s DJ journey starts somewhere, and for Kinnari, it started with a controller she’d been given and a passion for learning.

Bringing her own setup into the studio meant we could tailor the lessons around the equipment she uses at home, helping her get the most out of every practice session between lessons. Together, we broke everything down step by step, covering Serato, track preparation, workflow, mixing techniques, timing, and transitions to help build confidence behind the decks.

While we also discussed some more up-to-date equipment options for the future, the focus was always on making sure Kinnari could continue progressing with what she already has. After all, great DJing starts with understanding the fundamentals, regardless of the equipment in front of you.

At DJ Gym, alongside our club industry-standard Pioneer DJ setup, we’re also happy to tailor lessons around the equipment our students use at home. By learning on their own gear as well as gaining experience on professional club-standard equipment, students can build confidence, continue practising between sessions, and develop skills that easily translate from the bedroom to the DJ booth.

It’s been great seeing Kinnari’s progress so far, and we’re looking forward to seeing where her DJ journey takes her next. 🎧

A huge welcome to Terri, who recently joined us for a one-off DJ trial lesson after her friends gifted her the experience!

From the moment she got behind the decks, Terri showed loads of enthusiasm and a real passion for learning. Having already experimented with DJ apps on her phone, she was able to quickly connect some of that existing knowledge to the professional setup in the studio. With guidance from our tutors, she learned how those same principles translate across industry-standard DJ software such as Rekordbox and other leading platforms.

Terri took to the process really naturally, picked things up quickly, and most importantly had a great time doing it. It’s always exciting to see somebody discover a new passion, and we’re delighted that she’s enjoyed the experience so much that she’s decided to continue her journey with us by enrolling onto the full DJ course.

We can’t wait to see her progress over the coming sessions. Welcome to the DJ Gym family, Terri! 🎧🔥
