Did you know that we are running FREE Holiday, Activity & Food (HAF) courses in Brighton, Newhaven, and Bexhill this summer?

Come and make some noise in Brighton or Newhaven - have a go at guitar, keyboard, drum kit or vocals and join our new band.

Come and get creative at De La Warr Pavilion and Bexhill Museum - see behind the scenes at the museum, make some new art and make music together as a group.

Our HAF courses are free for children aged 7-11 receiving benefits related free school meals. There also a limited number of paid places available. Our Brighton and Bexhill courses will run from Mon 27 to 30 July, and our Newhaven course will run from Mon 3-Thu 7 August.

Create Music Academy 2026: get ready for three weeks full of music, creativity, and fun! 🎸

Create Music’s summer term short course series for children and young people returns from 29 Jun–17 Jul at venues across Sussex. Suitable for all ages and musical abilities, these courses offer the chance to meet, play and perform with other like-minded young musicians, encouraging collaboration and building creativity skills.

This year, Create Music Academy is expanding opportunities for young singers and musicians, including a brand-new percussion course, ensemble singing courses, and music production for beginners.

We were excited to be back at Brighton Festival for Children's Parade and the Brighton & East Sussex Youth Orchestra's annual performance at Brighton Dome Concert Hall.

On Monday 2 May, brass and percussion students from Create Music paraded alongside 50 local schools under the theme 'Read All About It!' as part of the 40th Children's Parade, inspired by the National Year of Reading. It was great to see Create Music students and staff fill the streets with music as part of the 5000-person parade co-produced with Same Sky.

On Monday 11 May, the Brighton & East Sussex Youth Orchestra played a fantastic concert at the Brighton Dome Concert Hall with soloist Curtis Phill Hsu, winner Hastings International Piano Competition 2024. The orchestra played Rachmaninoff's iconic Piano Concerto No.2 with Hsu as their soloist alongside Ethel Smyth's Wreckers Overture, LeFanu's Airs and Fanfares, and Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre featuring student soloist Will.

Congratulations to all the students who took part and contributed to a fantastic Brighton Festival - we look forward to the next one! 🎺🎶🥁
