This community-led initiative brings together local organisations, creatives and community partners who are passionate about showcasing and celebrating South Asian heritage through a diverse programme of events and activities.
🎉 All events are completely FREE!
Visit 👉 www.southasianheritagebristol.uk to explore what's on, discover exciting events taking place across the city, and book your place for indoor events where capacity is limited.
JCA have recently become aware of these Bristol events through an educational resource that will be shared with our students through tutor time. Having reviewed the offer, we are sharing as some of our families may wish to explore this community led initiative.

Keeping Children Safe and Cool at Home
During this period of hot weather, we recommend the following steps to help keep your child comfortable and safe:
- Stay hydrated: Encourage your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- Keep indoors during peak heat: Avoid outdoor activities between 11am and 3pm where possible.
- Create a cool environment: Keep curtains/blinds closed in sunny rooms and open windows in the early morning or evening to allow cooler air to circulate.
- Dress appropriately: Loose, light-coloured clothing is best in hot weather.
- Use sunscreen: Apply a high-factor sunscreen if your child is outside, and reapply regularly.
- Rest and quiet activities: Encourage calm indoor activities to prevent overheating.
Please also remain vigilant for signs of heat-related illness, such as headaches, dizziness, or unusual tiredness, and seek medical advice if needed.

✨ Our Transition Team has been out and about this week, visiting students in their primary schools!
Year 6 pupils have had the chance to explore our school uniform, find out more about the school day, and take a look at a typical timetable. It’s been fantastic to see so many positive and thoughtful conversations taking place.
We are really looking forward to welcoming our new Year 6 cohort to John Cabot Academy for their taster day on 1st July – we can’t wait to see you all! 👏🎉

New Starters!
Last week, we loved meeting the new students joining us in September! They explored subjects, sports and clubs, tried on uniform, tasted canteen food, learned about SEND support, and enjoyed a musical performance from our talented students.
They also met Head of School, Mrs Read, and discovered more about life at JCA.
We look forward to seeing everyone again for Transition Day in July!
