In support of and in collaboration with Chorley Council we invited all members of cadet squads to wear their uniform to school on Tuesday, to spark questions and interest from other pupils about the many transferrable skills they gain from being involved with cadets.

Represented are the air corps, army cadets and sea cadets. And we have many more pupils who serve in this way in school.

Students commented, that being part of the Armed Forces -
"Teaches you about discipline and following rules and orders and the importance of them"
"Gives you confidence, resilience and determination"
"Get to develop your leadership skills".

We're so proud of our students who choose to serve in the cadet squadrons for various branches - thank you for your service and for sharing your experiences with us all this week!

Many congratulations to our amazing Young Writers who have had their poetry published!

We’ve seen 15 entries across Year 9 be published in the Young Writers competition anthologies, which is a wonderful recognition of both creativity and effort 📚✨

The themes invited students to reflect on their hopes and ambitions, and they responded with thoughtful and engaging work. It’s fantastic to see their dedication and willingness to express their ideas through writing.

🪂 Our daring librarian swapped books for blue skies, trading the library for a leap of faith when she took on an unforgettable 15,000ft skydive recently 📚✈️☁️

Mrs Fahlin has raised a fantastic £575 so far for Prostate Cancer UK, and said: “There’s not one word in the English dictionary to describe that feeling of freefalling through the sky and seeing the plane get smaller and smaller above you!

“There were fantastic views of The Lakes, Morecambe and even Wales, and I had a go at steering once the parachute was out.

“It felt amazing, it was utterly incredible and I’d definitely like to do more skydives in future!”

*Albany cadets – get ready for *

Next week sees the UK celebrate all the work of its Armed Forces with activities and initiatives to highlight the many services they provide – and we’d like to invite our cadet students to show their support.

Albany is very proud of its pupils who also choose to serve in the cadet squadrons for various branches, and we would like to invite all members of cadet squads to wear their uniform to school on Tuesday 23rd June, in support of and in collaboration with Chorley Council.

We hope this will generate questions and interest from other students about the many transferrable skills they gain from being involved with cadets.

Year 9 students had a brilliant time at the TeenTech Lancashire Festival at University of Lancashire yesterday 🧬

The interactive career showcase aims to inspire students by connecting them with professionals in science, technology, engineering, and maths.

In History, Year 8 have been exploring the realities of life on plantations for enslaved people. Through the study of historical interpretations and sources, students have developed a deeper understanding of the harsh and inhumane conditions endured by enslaved individuals.

By analysing different perspectives and key evidence, they have investigated the physical, emotional and social challenges faced by those living under slavery, while strengthening their historical thinking skills.

This important topic has encouraged thoughtful discussion, critical analysis and a greater understanding of the experiences of enslaved people and their resilience in the face of oppression.
