η Ελληνική Επανάσταση. On we celebrate 200 years since the Greek Revolution of #1821. The resulted in independence from the Ottoman Empire and a Greek independent state in 1830. Two hundred years later, several countries around the world have joined 🇬🇷 in celebrations of the of the Greek Revolution!

ο Άγιος Βασίλης. In many countries, Santa Claus corresponds to Saint Nicholas (a fourth-century Greek bishop of Myra in Asia Minor). In Greece, there is “Άγιος Βασίλης” (Saint Basil the Great), another fourth-century Greek bishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia in Asia Minor. Both of them were known for their care of the poor and underprivileged, and, hence, correlation with Christmas gifts comes as no surprise! In Greece, “o Άγιος Βασίλης” brings gifts on New Year’s Eve!
