It is always a challenge to find a play suited to the strengths of a diverse range of young people. Many different texts must be read, reread, shortlisted and discarded before the right one is found.
"I enjoy this one, but will they connect with it at all?"
Upon reading 12 Angry Men, however, I quickly imagined those words in the mouths of our pupils. Words that, though written 73 years ago, I knew would resonate with them.
The play is an exploration of the nature of truth and perception: how what we perceive as fact will be coloured by our experiences, our expectations and our prejudices.
It would be pleasant to imagine that, at some point in the future, a teacher might pick up this script and consider it for their pupils but think, "It’s well written, but the themes are just so old fashioned. I just can’t see its relevance in the contemporary world."
One can only hope.

For posterity.
We have many portraits: Head Masters (many), priests (more than you'd imagine), politicians, philosophers, painters, poets, pupils.
But, our foundress Queen aside, not many women...yet.
Old Westminsters currently being lined up for our walls include, amongst others, musician Grace Chatto (BB 2004), art historian Katy Hessel (LL 2012), and Chatham House director Bronwen Maddox (RR 1980).

Has Westminster Platform really been going for eight years?
Originally conceived for Year 5 pupils, it has since developed to include Platform+ and Platform Pups, for boys and girls in Year 10 and in Year 2.
Westminster Platform is an academic enrichment programme for young people from London state schools, designed to fuel academic ambition, nourish potential and grow confidence.
Each year, teachers from our partner schools nominate pupils who they think would benefit most from the opportunity, and those pupils then participate in a free one-year programme of Saturday morning English, maths, science, languages and humanities sessions at both Westminster Under School and Westminster School.

Mixed doubles on Vincent Square brought out big hitting and friendly rivalry.
And it turned out to be a good week or so for Rigaud’s: winning the tennis as well as house debating.
(A special mention for Chloe (Sixth Form, RR), who played/argued in both victories…)

Hail the day that sees him rise, Alleluia!
to his throne beyond the skies. Alleluia!
From College roof on Ascension morning, the choir sang the words of the great hymnist and Old Westminster, Charles Wesley.

What we lack in rolling hills, scenic walks and pretty tearooms, we make up for with stunning architecture, great transport, and Soho jazz clubs.
London never stops giving.
