Last week, we were delighted to welcome colleagues from the Korea National University of Education (KNUE) to ACT.

It was a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on Citizenship education, curriculum design, pedagogy and the challenges and opportunities facing educators in both the UK and South Korea. Our discussions reinforced the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to engage themselves in democracy and the world around them.

A huge thank you to our colleagues from KNUE for visiting us and for such rich and inspiring conversations.

Supporting children with additional needs 12/06/2026

Internet Matters published research last week that highlighted that children with additional needs spend more time online than their peers and often use digital spaces to build friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging. However, the research also found that these children are more likely to worry about what others think of them online, feel excluded by what they see on social media, and experience online harms.

79% of children with additional needs reported experiencing harm online and this rises to 84% among girls. These findings reinforce the importance of delivering high quality media literacy education in schools and the research echoes ACT's calls for improved comprehensive teacher training to do this effectively.

Internet Matters have launched an additional needs support toolkit to help parents with resources and guidance which can be found here: https://ow.ly/la9550Zb0M8
