Welcome to the final part of the series on why mental health should be prioritised for everyone in the school community over academic boosters and staff training. The pictures have turned green as we look more into the overall benefits of adopting that strategy.

Students who have access to mental health support are more likely to succeed academically because their mental health issues are identified and addressed, allowing them to concentrate better on their studies. Similarly, educators who have access to mental health support are more likely to perform their job effectively, as they are better equipped to manage their own emotional well-being and respond to the emotional needs of their students. This highlights the importance of prioritising mental health support for both students and educators in educational settings to promote academic success and emotional well-being. 🎈

Yesterday was School Transition Day in most schools in Coventry!

The day when the Year 6 leavers spent the day in their new school.
The day when many primary children spent the day with their new teacher for September.

This day aims to make the change easier, to offer familiarisation and connection, to prevent bouts of BIG first day nerves in September.

However, many young people will still struggle in September.

What are you doing to support them?

There are some online sessions and tips etc available from charities and big organisations, including Coventry Health Visiting Service.

I offer TWO services -

🔸One for secondary schools to promote connection (rather than just familiarisation of the building, and tasters of the more exciting and practical lessons, which are experienced on open days and transition days).
- A 6 week group programme, that ideally would have started by now, offering 3 weeks before the holiday and 3 weeks after, but can start in September or later if required.

🔸One for individual children who are experiencing real anxiety about the change.
- A 12 week programme, available to start at any point between now and October half term... but my advice; catch it early before it becomes a bigger problem.

Please do get in touch if I can be of any help - FREE consultations ALWAYS available 🎈

Well, July has arrived with a little cooler air - last week was a little sticky wasn't it? 🥵

So now is the time to look back at what my business looked like in June...

In June I;
🔸Completed an 8 week directed group programme with a group of 4 children
🔸Completed a 12 week 1-2-1 programme of Drawing & Talking with another child
🔸Continued to work with 6 other children at 2 local primary schools (juggling SATs week, school trips and water fights on the playground)
🔸Held two meet & greet sessions in The Connection Cabin (this is the in-person version of a FREE telephone consultation)
🔸Started work with both of those prospective clients (1 adult & 1 child)
🔸Attended the Carers Week event with
🔸Networked at Coventry Buzz and FindABiz, as well as having great 1-2-1 follow-ups with Charlotte at Fiesta Farewells, Sadie the Safeguarding Lady and Sam from Gaia Wellbeing!
🔸Had a preparation meeting with one of my school clients regarding the September cohort.
🔸Joined THE BIG DRAW 2026 - more info coming soon about community events and collaborations with venues, schools and community groups!

🔸I was also honoured to receive a Nominee Spotlight post as part of The Class Business Awards, even though I didn't reach the finalist stage this time (there were 400 entries).
🔸Time is currently being spent on further award entries and even discussions about sponsorship of award events... watch this space!

🔸For the local charity, Tiny Tims Childrens Centre, I swam over 7,000metres this month towards my 100,000 target and attended 3 meetings in my capacity as trustee. 🎈

I also managed some line-dancing, ate lots of ice-cream and resorted to siestas to manage the heat!

Any of that busyness of business sparked a question? Then please do get in touch!
