It might feel early to be thinking about next year’s GCSEs, but many parents start looking for support now so everything is in place before Year 11 begins.

Starting tuition in September gives students time to build confidence, strengthen their English skills and develop good exam habits before the pressure starts to build.

Whether your child loves English, lacks confidence, or simply wants some extra support, we’re here to help them make the most of their final year.

We’re now taking bookings for GCSE English tuition starting in September for current Year 10 students.

For some children, the idea of working with someone new can feel daunting.

They might be shy. They might lack confidence. They might take a little longer to warm up to people.

That's okay.

Building a relationship is an important part of tutoring. We don't expect children to open up the moment they join a session.

Our tutors take the time to get to know each child, understand their interests and create an environment where they feel comfortable. For some children that happens quickly. For others, it takes a little longer.

The goal isn't just to support learning. It's to help children feel confident enough to ask questions, make mistakes and have a go without worrying about getting it wrong.

Many of the children who are quiet at the start surprise their parents with how much they grow in confidence over time.

If you're worried your child might not engage with a tutor, we'd be happy to talk through how we can support them.

It might feel like there's plenty of time before GCSEs become a priority, but Year 11 has a habit of arriving quicker than expected.

The summer holidays are often the last chance for students to take a breath before mock exams, revision timetables and the pressures of their final school year begin.

That's why many parents start looking at tuition now.

Booking support ahead of September means your child can start Year 11 feeling prepared, with a plan in place and someone there to guide them through the year ahead.

Whether they're aiming to boost their confidence, improve their exam technique or strengthen their English skills, getting started early can make all the difference.

We're now taking bookings for GCSE English tuition starting in September for current Year 10 students.

It's a concern we hear from lots of parents, especially those with children who are neurodivergent.

The reality is that tutoring doesn't have to look like school.

Our tutors adapt sessions to the child in front of them. Some children learn best through discussion. Some need regular changes of activity. Some benefit from movement being built into sessions. Others need a little extra time to settle and build trust.

The aim isn't to have a child sitting perfectly still for an hour. The aim is to help them learn in a way that works for them.

Every child is different, which is why we take the time to get to know them and tailor our approach to their individual needs.

World Environment Day Challenge 🌍

How many of these can your child spot this weekend?

A bird
A bee
A butterfly
A flower
A tree
A cloud that looks like something
Something green
Something that makes a sound
Something smaller than your thumb
Something they've never noticed before

Once they've finished, challenge them to:

Write a sentence about their favourite thing they found
Read a book outside
Tell you three facts about what they spotted

A simple way to encourage observation, conversation and learning while spending some time outdoors.

How many can they tick off?

If your child is in Year 4, they'll soon be taking their Multiplication Tables Check.

The check is designed to assess how quickly and accurately children can recall their times tables up to 12 × 12.

The good news is that preparation doesn't need to be complicated.

A few minutes of regular practice each day can make a real difference and help build confidence ahead of the check.

Good luck to all the Year 4 children taking part over the next few weeks! 😊

With the Phonics Screening Check just around the corner, it’s understandable if reading is becoming a bit of a hot topic at home.

If your child isn’t interested in sitting down with a book, try not to panic.

Reading doesn’t have to mean working through a chapter book from cover to cover. Comics, magazines, recipe books, football programmes, joke books and even game instructions all help children practise important reading skills.

The most important thing is helping children see reading as something enjoyable rather than something they have to do.

A child who loves reading about dinosaurs, Minecraft or their favourite football team is still reading.

And when children enjoy what they’re reading, they’re often much more willing to pick it up again tomorrow.

What does your child enjoy reading at the moment?
