Sparx Reader Leaderboard last week
A huge congratulations to all of the students featured on this week's Sparx Reader Leaderboard. It is fantastic to see so many students making reading a regular part of their week and demonstrating such a strong commitment to developing one of the most important skills for lifelong success. Research consistently shows that there is a powerful link between reading and academic achievement. Students who read regularly not only improve their vocabulary and comprehension but also develop stronger communication skills, greater confidence and a wider understanding of the world around them. Reading supports success across every subject, from English and Humanities through to Science, Mathematics and beyond.
A special congratulations goes to Rayan A., who secured the top position on this week's leaderboard with an impressive 1,164 SRP. Well done also to Princess N. and Aditi G., who completed the top three places with outstanding performances.
At Finham Park 2, we want all students to become confident, capable readers. Whether it is a novel, an article, non-fiction text or a favourite series, reading for pleasure helps to build imagination, empathy, knowledge and curiosity. The more we read, the more we learn—and the more opportunities we create for ourselves in the future.
The students featured on this week's leaderboard have shown excellent commitment and determination. Their achievements are a reminder that small amounts of regular reading can make a significant difference over time. Well done to everyone who engaged with Sparx Reader this week, and a special congratulations to our Top 10 students. Keep reading, keep learning and keep challenging yourselves!

Sparx Maths Leaderboard last week
A huge congratulations to all of the students featured on this week's Sparx Maths Leaderboard. It is fantastic to see so many students investing time and effort into developing their mathematical knowledge and confidence outside of their lessons. At Finham Park 2, we know that success in mathematics is built through regular practice. Sparx Maths uses intelligent technology to adapt questions to each student's level of understanding, helping them to strengthen existing skills, address misconceptions and build confidence over time. It is one of the most effective tools we have for developing fluency and resilience in mathematics.
This week's leaderboard was incredibly competitive, with just three XP separating our top two students. A special congratulations goes to Logan B., who secured the number one position with an impressive 1,490 XP, narrowly edging out Aditi G. in second place. Well done also to Kayanna M., who completed the podium places with an excellent total of 1,346 XP.

🔬 Success in the National Scientific Thinking Challenge
Congratulations to all of our Year 10 Triple Science students who recently took part in this year's National Scientific Thinking Challenge. The competition provides students with an excellent opportunity to stretch their scientific understanding beyond the classroom, applying their knowledge, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to a series of demanding and thought-provoking questions. Competing against students from across the country, participants were challenged to think critically and demonstrate the curiosity and resilience that lie at the heart of scientific enquiry. We are particularly proud to celebrate the achievements of Riley A and Isla T, who were both awarded Bronze Certificates (top 40% of the country), and Alexandra C, who achieved an impressive Silver Certificate (top 25% of the country). These awards are a testament to the hard work, dedication and scientific aptitude shown by our students. We are incredibly proud of all those who took part and represented the school so positively, embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and determination. Well done to everyone involved, and especially to our award winners on their fantastic achievements!

One of the key themes in our Personal Development programme this week has been raising awareness of the RNLI's Float to Live campaign. Many parents will be aware of the tragic incidents that occur across the country each year, particularly during periods of warm weather, when young people enter rivers, lakes, reservoirs or other open water to cool down. Cold water shock can affect even strong swimmers and can quickly turn a fun day out into a life-threatening situation. With warmer weather forecast and the summer months approaching, we felt it was important to share this potentially life-saving message with all students. Throughout the week, students have watched the RNLI's Float to Live video and discussed the simple steps that can help save lives if someone unexpectedly finds themselves struggling in open water.
The key message is straightforward:
If you find yourself in difficulty in the water:
• Tilt your head back with your ears submerged.
• Relax and try to control your breathing.
• Move your hands and legs gently to help you stay afloat.
• Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety if you are able.
We would strongly encourage families to watch the video together and discuss the advice at home. Reinforcing these messages could make a real difference and may one day help save a life.
The video we viewed together this week can be viewed here:

A few minutes spent discussing water safety today could prove invaluable in the future.

Well done to our Year 10 and Year 12 students, who have approached their examinations with such maturity, determination and focus this week. Here you can see a number of Year 10 students making excellent use of the time before school, revising together and reviewing their notes ahead of their exams. With the school gates opening at 8:00am, it has been fantastic to see so many students arriving early and taking full advantage of the opportunity to prepare for the day ahead. It has been particularly heartening to see the positive attitudes, resilience and commitment that students have shown throughout the examination period. Their willingness to work hard, stay focused and support one another demonstrates exactly the habits that lead to success. As we often remind students, hard work really does pay off, and we are incredibly proud of the effort being shown across both year groups. For ease of reference, we have also included the Year 10 and Year 12 examination timetables for the remainder of the mock examination period below so that students and families are clear about the dates and times of all remaining exams.
