🌿🦋 Classes 1 and 2 Visit Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve 🦋🌿
Classes 1 and 2 enjoyed a fantastic day at Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, taking part in a range of exciting outdoor learning activities.
The children became young naturalists for the day as they explored the reserve through pond dipping, minibeast hunts and grass sweeping. They were fascinated by the variety of creatures they discovered and enjoyed learning about different habitats, life cycles and the importance of protecting our local environment.
These hands-on experiences helped to bring their science learning to life, encouraging curiosity, observation skills and a deeper understanding of the natural world. Pupils worked collaboratively, asked thoughtful questions and showed great enthusiasm as they investigated the wildlife around them.
The day also included time on the beach, where pupils enjoyed exploring the coastline and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Spending time outdoors provided valuable opportunities to develop confidence, independence and teamwork, while supporting pupils' wellbeing through active learning in nature.
It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited by their discoveries. Experiences such as these help to create lasting memories and inspire a lifelong appreciation of the environment.
Well done to all of the pupils for their excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day. We are also very grateful to the staff and volunteers at Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve for providing such an enjoyable and educational experience.

Throughout the day, the children had the opportunity to discover a wide variety of fascinating sea creatures, from colourful fish and graceful rays to sharks and other ocean animals. They were excited to observe the different habitats and learn about the importance of protecting our oceans and marine life.
The visit provided a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, inspiring curiosity and helping pupils to develop a greater appreciation of the natural world. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces and such excitement throughout the day.
A huge thank you to all of the parents and carers who generously gave their time to support the visit. Your help made the trip possible and ensured that the children had a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience.

Forest School
Pupils have thoroughly enjoyed their Forest School sessions at Methley Meadow this year, benefiting from a wide range of enriching outdoor learning experiences led by an inspiring and highly skilled Forest School leader.
Forest School has provided pupils with opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, developing confidence, resilience and independence through hands-on activities in a natural environment. Whether building shelters, exploring wildlife, using tools safely or working collaboratively with others, pupils have been encouraged to take appropriate risks, solve problems and challenge themselves.
The sessions have also supported pupils' wellbeing, providing a calm and nurturing environment where they can develop emotional regulation, self-esteem and positive relationships with their peers. Many children have grown in confidence, becoming more willing to try new experiences and persevere when faced with challenges.
As part of our commitment to providing a broad and balanced enrichment offer, Forest School has enabled pupils to develop important life skills, a deeper appreciation of the natural world and a greater sense of responsibility for the environment. It has been wonderful to see pupils thrive in this setting and apply the skills they have learned back in the classroom and across school life.
We would like to thank Gin at Methley Meadow for providing such valuable experiences for our pupils throughout the year.

Our KS2 children had an amazing trip to We The Curious! Throughout the day, the children explored the museum’s interactive exhibits, getting hands-on with science, engineering, space, and the human body. From experimenting with light and sound to discovering how forces and technology work, there was excitement and curiosity around every corner.

The highlight for many was the incredible solar planetarium show where the children were completely in awe as they journeyed through space and learned more about our fascinating solar system. They also thoroughly enjoyed the thrilling “Launch It!” science show packed with explosive experiments, fiery reactions and exciting demonstrations that had everyone amazed and laughing along.

It was a fantastic day full of discovery, teamwork and unforgettable learning experiences! 🚀🌍✨

A special thankyou to the PTA for helping fund this wonderful experience and to our parent helpers who came along with us - we couldn’t have done it without you🫶

Kindness Pebbles

As part of our Community Week, children across the school took part in creating “Kindness Pebbles”. They carefully designed and decorated pebbles with kind messages, prayers, and thoughtful words to share with others around the school and the village.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the creative nature of the activity, taking great care in their designs and thinking deeply about how their words might brighten someone’s day. Each pebble was a small but meaningful way to spread positivity, compassion, and a sense of community.
Placing the pebbles around the village and school will give the children a sense of pride, knowing that their messages can be discovered by others and make a difference. The activity also encouraged reflection on the importance of kindness, empathy, and looking out for one another.
A lovely initiative that truly captured the spirit of our Community Week and embodied our Trust value of Compassion.

Usborne Book Winners
A huge well done to all of the children who took part in the sponsored read.
Emily from Usborne delivered a very special collective worship, where children were presented with prizes for the most minutes read and the highest amounts raised through sponsorship. We were also delighted to recognise pupils nominated by their teachers for their hard work and commitment to reading.
Children were able to choose their own prizes, making the event even more special. Thanks to Emily the school also received an incredible £800 worth of books for our library.
Thank you to all of the children and parents who supported this initiative—we are very grateful.
