Muddy Boots at the Farm ✂️

The Pre-School children have been practising their scissor skills through a range of cutting activities.

The children carefully followed different lines and patterns, concentrating as they cut along the paper. They showed great perseverance as they developed their control and coordination, taking their time to navigate the different shapes and lines.

These experiences help to support fine motor development, hand-eye coordination and the skills needed for early writing, while encouraging children to build confidence in their own abilities.

It was wonderful to see the children so focused and proud of their achievements as they practised this important skill.

🌿 Try at home: Draw simple lines, zig-zags or curves on paper and encourage your child to practise cutting along them with child-safe scissors.

This is not just another year... this is the preschool year 🌟

It is a chapter filled with discovery, friendship, confidence, and adventure. It is the year when personalities shine, curiosity leads the way, and children begin to see themselves as capable, independent learners.

In our preschool room, every moment has meaning. From sensory play and storytelling to outdoor exploration and early independence, our team carefully nurtures each child’s interests and helps them take their next steps with confidence.

World Ocean Day 🌊

Today, we’re celebrating our wonderful oceans and all the amazing sea life that lives beneath the waves. From tiny fish to enormous whales, oceans are home to so many fascinating creatures for children to discover and learn about.

Throughout this week, the children will be exploring ocean themes through stories, discussions, creative activities, and conversations about how we can all help care for the world around us, including putting rubbish in the bin and helping to keep our beaches and parks clean.

We love encouraging children to explore the world around them with kindness, curiosity, and an appreciation for nature 💙

Muddy Boots at the Market ✏

We have been very fortunate to build strong links with Castle Primary School as we continue to support our children with their transition to Reception.

During a recent visit, the children had the opportunity to explore the Reception classrooms, meet the teachers and learn more about what school life will be like. There were lots of discussions about the exciting activities they will take part in, and the children were encouraged to ask questions about starting school.

These experiences help to build confidence and familiarity, supporting children to feel more prepared and excited about their next step.

We were also pleased to discuss our new Read Write Inc. programme, which is used by many local primary schools. By introducing familiar approaches to early literacy, we can help create a smoother transition and support children as they begin their school journey.

It was wonderful to see the children's enthusiasm and curiosity as they explored their future learning environment.

From Muddy Boots at the Market 🌻

We are delighted to be taking part in the Tiverton in Bloom Scarecrow Trail this year.

Our team and children have been busy creating a scarecrow inspired by the much-loved story The Scarecrow's Wedding, bringing a favourite children's book to life for the local community to enjoy.

Taking part in community events like this provides wonderful opportunities for children to develop a sense of belonging, celebrate stories they love and connect with the world around them.

We can't wait to see all of the fantastic scarecrows on display and be part of this year's trail.

To celebrate World Ocean Day next week, we’re sharing a collection of ocean-inspired books we love - from fascinating underwater discoveries to gentle stories about life beneath the waves.
