Amelia has also achieved a great deal lately. She was watched by scouts from Sunderland FC a few weeks ago, and has been accepted into their football academy starting next season. Go Amelia!

Y4 are having such a great day that we just had to share more of what's going on today. The concentration, perseverance and enjoyment is amazing to see. What a treat to have such fabulous professional input.

Art has been a focus in many classes of late. Y4 has been lucky enough to have the artist, Elizabeth Kane, working with them on their local history project. This year, they have studied parts of the life of Gateshead artist, Charlie Rogers. Like Charlie, Y4 took an interesting walk around their area and sketched as they went. Today, at school, they are learning more about watercolour and pen techniques to produce their own very lovely paintings. You can see by their experimental pieces that they are doing very well.
Thank you Elizabeth Kane, Historic England and Brian Rankin

Y2 made the most of the warm weather last week by holding their art lesson outside. They used watercolours to paint the beautiful leaves, trees and flowers all around us and had a beautifully calm and enjoyable hour absorbed in art.

We have followed Lucas on his journey in the world of music for years now . Who could forget his beautiful organ work at last year's Christmas Carol Service?
Today, we were so very pleased to hear that he has successfully achieved his ABRSM Grade 8 certificates in both piano and violin with a Distinction in piano and a Merit in violin.
What an amazing achievement that is at all, not to say at such a very young age. Well done Lucas. We are so very proud of you and hope that music always brings you happiness.

It's hot, hot, hot! Please make sure the children come to school wearing sunscreen, have sunhats with them and full water bottles. They are very welcome to wear cooler clothing instead of uniform to keep them comfortable. Enjoy the sunshine but stay safe!

Class 6 would like to give a huge thanks to Brian Rankin a local artist and gallery owner, who you can find waiting to chat to you in his art gallery (Come View My Art Gallery , on Sheriffs Highway). He is in the process of installing an art exhibition of Charlie Roger’s work in Saltwell Park, and today he gave our year 6 pupils a sneak peek with an exclusive tour. He judged a sketching competition too, kindly awarding Laura with a Charlie Rogers t- shirt. It was an incredibly artistic day and we even had time to watch the squirrels and venture through the maze!
