The lovely Lisetta has been part of my 27 years of teaching and will always hold a very special place in so many hearts.
To many, she may have been known as βthe ice cream ladyβ at The Rye β but to us, she was so much more than that. Lisetta was part of the fabric of countless childhood memories and school days. Every time I took children to The Rye Park, she would show a genuine interest in everything they were doing β whether it was their learning, Sports Day, testing boats on the stream, or painting autumn pictures beneath the trees.
She always greeted us with her big smile, energetic wave, and cheerful hello as we wandered past. Her warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm brought joy not only to the children, but to all of us lucky enough to know her. She had a wonderful way of making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
Over the years, generations of children will remember Lisetta not simply for the ice creams she sold, but for the happiness, care, and kindness she shared so freely. She became a treasured part of our visits to The Rye and of our community itself.
Lisetta will be deeply missed by us all, but remembered with enormous fondness and gratitude. We thank her for the smiles, conversations, kindness, and memories she gave to so many people over the years, and we wish her all the very best for the next chapter ahead.
With heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes.
