Last Tuesday (31st January), level 6 (BSc) and 7 (MSc) Sports Therapy students, including some alumni and accompanied by BNU academic staff members, visited the anatomy dissection laboratory at Kings College London. The two-hour long session involved demonstrations by anatomy experts on various aspects of musculoskeletal medicine and provided an ideal adjunct to the students’ theoretical learning on the course. Neal Reynolds, Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy and organiser of the excursion, said “this was an excellent educational field trip and several students commented afterwards how they thoroughly enjoyed the session and found it extremely beneficial to their learning. It was a fantastic way for BNU students to apply their anatomy knowledge and from the course and be able to view the various human tissues and structures close-up. Having an visual appreciation and understanding of how the different tissues interact and affect one other is a key element when applying this in Sports Therapy practice. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it has not been possible to run this field trip for the past few years, so we are delighted to be able to have offered this fantastic opportunity to these students.”
