Innovation in action! 🌟

Over the past couple of weeks, several of our teachers were invited to speak at two of the biggest events in education technology. Mr. Wilson, Miss Lawson, and Mr. Rowe-Elliot were guests of the Good Future Foundation at the BETT show, and Mr. Wilson visited Google to present our progress as part of the Gemini Trailblazers scheme. 🎓💻

We are leading the way in testing how AI can help our students learn safely while ensuring they are still being cognitively challenged.

We are also excited to be hosting a free Professional Development day with the Good Future Foundation on Feb 24th—we have a few spaces left for interested schools, so click here to join us: https://champ.ly/H8f3UA4s

And that’s a wrap on the Autumn term! 🍂❄️

As we close the doors today at 12:30 PM, we want to wish our entire school community a wonderful and restful winter break.

Whatever your plans are for the festive season, we hope you take this opportunity to disconnect, recharge your batteries, and enjoy some well-deserved quality time with friends and loved ones. Put the screens away, get some fresh air, and enjoy the rest.

We look forward to welcoming all staff and students back, refreshed and ready for the new year, on Monday, 5th January.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

🥈Innovation meets Integrity: RGS High Wycombe Awarded Silver AI Quality Mark 🥈

We are delighted to announce that we have officially been awarded the Silver AI Quality Mark by the Good Future Foundation.

This has been an incredibly busy and successful term for the school. Following on from our recent Character Accreditation, this latest award demonstrates our commitment to balancing traditional values with future-facing skills.

The assessor highlighted our comprehensive and well-structured AI approach , specifically awarding us top marks for our Leadership & Vision and our Parental Engagement. This accreditation validates that we are integrating AI into our curriculum responsibly.

We are committed to building on this success to ensure our students are fully equipped for a rapidly changing world, doing so with safeguarding and ethics at the centre of it.

Thank you to our staff for their hard work in securing this standard of excellence before their well earned break.

🏆 We have been awarded the School of Character Quality Mark! 🏆

We are incredibly proud to announce that we have officially received the School of Character Quality Mark from the Association for Character Education (ACE).

This achievement places us among a select group of just 110 schools nationally to have earned this prestigious recognition.

This award acknowledges the significant dedication shown by our staff, pupils, and governors to meet the high standards of character education. In their report, the assessors noted that it was "an absolute pleasure and a joy to visit" our school to see the "transformative work" currently taking place.

✨ Highlights from the report:

🤝 A Whole-School Effort
ACE recognised our "collaborative approach" to identifying the right traits to focus on, noting that we have fostered a "critical mass of support" across the wider school community.

🎓 Exemplary Student Character
The report praised our pupils for how clearly they articulate and demonstrate our values. Assessors noted that students are deepening their understanding of what these values and virtues "look like in action," developing habits that drive them to cultivate character both inside and outside the classroom.

🧠 Strategic Depth
The report noted that character education at RGS "permeates all areas of school life, in a coherent manner".

👩‍🏫 Staff Dedication
Assessors highlighted that role modelling values is "ingrained in the expectations of all staff", with one staff member noting: "It is not just one person’s job. It is all our responsibility".

🚀 Looking Ahead

We are not stopping here. As we move into the New Year, we are excited to build on our current progress. Our next focus will be exploring how good character is a balance between underdoing and overdoing traits. We look forward to helping our pupils understand this nuance; often described as the "golden mean", to further deepen their personal development.

A huge and well deserved thank you to everyone involved.

Festive spirit in full swing! 🎄✨

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Christmas Jumper Day yesterday. We are delighted to share that we have raised £1,857.38 for Save the Children UK! It was great to see such a strong effort from the whole school community.

We also want to say a huge thank you to our Canteen Staff. 🍽️ They worked incredibly hard to serve 800 Christmas lunches; a fantastic logistical achievement that was enjoyed by all.

RGSHW's Festival of Lessons and Carols 2025 09/12/2025

We are still filled with festive spirit following last night’s Festival of Lessons and Carols at All Saints’ Parish Church. It was wonderful to see the RGS community come together on Monday evening to celebrate the season.

From the congregational carols to the stunning performances by our Chamber and Senior Choirs, the music was truly uplifting. A special thank you to our readers, representing students from Year 7 through 11, the School Captain, Chaplin and the Headmaster, who guided us through the Christmas story.

We are also incredibly grateful for the generous donations to the retiring collection, which will be shared between The One Can Trust and All Saints Church.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the RGS Parents' Association for providing the refreshments in Oakley Hall afterwards.

What an evening.......Yesterday, the Queen’s Hall came alive with the spirit of competition, comedy, and sheer creativity. The challenge was set: 15 minutes to stage a masterpiece. And you delivered.

From the dark alleys of Gotham to the swamps of Shrek, and from ancient China to the very halls of RGS itself, the variety on display was nothing short of spectacular. The energy was electric, the jokes landed (mostly!), and the acting talent across all year groups was undeniable.

The judges (Old Wycombiensian Anthony Sendall, Paul Woodstock, Dr Newmark, Miss Cooper and Mr McDonald-Smith) had an incredibly difficult task separating the performances, as the scores were tight, particularly in the battle for the midfield. However, after tallying the points based on creativity, performance, participation and sticking to that strict time limit, we have our champions.

1st 🏆Sandringham - An RGS Disaster
2nd 🥈Buckingham - Shrek - Pantomime Edition
3rd 🥉Kensington Kung - Fu Panda: Legend of the Dumpling
4th St James - Panto Pandemonium
5th Windsor - Robin in the Hood
6th Balmoral - Batman, a Pantomime in Gotham

Congratulations to Sandringham House! It seems fitting that a play titled "An RGS Disaster" turned out to be exactly the opposite; a total triumph. Taking home the trophy with a commanding 60 House Points, you have set the bar high for next year.

A massive well done to Buckingham for a hilarious rendition of Shrek to take 2nd place, and to Kensington for rounding out the podium with their martial arts dumpling saga.

Thank you to all the judges, everyone who wrote scripts, painted sets, donned costumes, or cheered from the audience. You represent the very best of the RGS spirit.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

Today, our whole school community, joined by our local neighbours, came together for a poignant Remembrance Service.

It was a deeply moving moment of shared reflection as we paused to remember all those who have given their lives in service, including our own Old Wycombiensians.

Our sincere thanks to our talented musicians, as well as Corporal Charlotte Martin and the CCF, for their powerful contributions that helped us honour their memory.

We will remember them.

It's been a whirlwind of activity over the past few weeks! As we head into the final week, towards a well deserved break, we wanted to share a few highlights of the incredible work and opportunities our community has been involved in.

👋 Welcoming Our Community: It was an absolute pleasure to welcome over 1,100 people to our two Open Mornings this week! The buzz and energy were incredible.

🔹 House of Lords Visit: We were honoured to attend a fascinating research presentation from Goodnotes, held at both the House of Lords and their HQ. This amazing opportunity came through our valued partnership with the Good Futures Foundation.

❤️ Life Saving Skills: Our Year 10s took part in vital, life-saving CPR training for the "Restart a Heart" campaign, a global initiative led by organisations like the Resus Council UK. We're so proud of their engagement!

🌟 Student Leadership: It was fantastic to see our House Captains take charge, confidently leading their peers in a series of brilliant House Assemblies.

🧠 Impactful Assemblies: We've also held several other impactful assemblies, tackling crucial topics in AI, Disinformation, and Misinformation, as well as celebrating our vital Mental Health Champions and the importance of looking out for one another.

🎓 Future Medics: Our dedicated MedSoc students prepared for their futures with a rigorous and valuable mock MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) session. Thank you to OWs and Parents for your support.

We're now looking forward to our Sixth Form Open Evening next week!

A huge well done to all the students and staff involved in these fantastic events. We're incredibly proud of your hard work and engagement.
