Our Year 10 Geography students undertook a day's fieldwork in the local area in weather conditions which were far from ideal! The day began with a rather wet walk from the Academy to the Rye Park where the morning was spent investigating the River Wye which flows behind the tennis courts. The students measured the width and depth of the river, before using a cork to calculate the velocity of the flow and took stone samples from the riverbed allowing them to investigate changes in the bedload. After lunch, the students walked into the town centre whilst investigating the changes in environmental quality as they got nearer to the Eden Centre. This involved measuring the noise level, doing an environmental quality survey, a traffic and pedestrian count and a litter count. Despite the weather the students had an enjoyable and productive day which will prepare them well for their exams next year. Thank you to all the staff who supported this opportunity. Mr N Townsend, Geography Teacher

Year 10 and Year 12 Art students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The trip provided students with the opportunity to explore a diverse range of art, design, fashion, and sculpture collections, supporting their current coursework and encouraging new creative ideas. Students engaged thoughtfully with the exhibitions, sketching, photographing, and researching artworks to inform their own artistic practice. The visit was a valuable experience, helping students develop their understanding of historical and contemporary art while gaining
firsthand insight into one of the world’s leading museums of art and design. We were extremely proud of the students, who represented the school excellently throughout the visit.

The outdoor pursuits venue Woodrow High House and Leisure Centre in Amersham is holding it's 80th birthday event on Saturday 4 July, taking place from 12 until 5pm and should be an amazing day with entertainment for the whole family including:
• Instructor-led outdoor activities
• Local food and drink vendors
• Community stalls and entertainment
• Family attractions and games
• A Mermaid!
• Live entertainment from Sublime Science, a dance troop, and music from Haylee Duo
The event is not only a chance to celebrate everything Woodrow stands for, but also an opportunity to raise awareness of the important work they do supporting young people through outdoor learning, confidence building, and accessible adventure experiences. https://woodrowhighhouse.org/

Not only Aspiring and Achieving in school, but also out of school! Our Year 9 student Phoebe recently picked up another medal for her Judo, winning a tournament in Bishops Stortford to add yet another gold medal to her collection.

A group of Year 10 students had a fantastic work experience day at the Biffa Waste Management site on the London Road, High Wycombe, gaining real insight into the wide range of apprenticeships and career pathways available in the industry. Huge thanks to for organising the opportunity, and to the brilliant team at for making the day so engaging and memorable. A special shout out to Kate Roome, Adam Bamford, and Barry Chapman — and of course to our students, who represented themselves with maturity and enthusiasm throughout. Proud moments all round! 👏✨

Before half term, a group of Year 9 and Year 10 students took part in the District Athletics event at the Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Windsor, which went very well. We averaged around 5th out of the 7 schools that attended. We had some wins for the Year 10s and very pole positions for the Year 9s in the track events. In the field events, students were awarded in the top 10 a few times, but not the results we hoped for the day. We had excellent behaviour from the students who all took part and enjoyed the day.
