✨ What Weekends Look Like at PQA ✨
What to expect at a taster session
Thinking about joining PQA? Here’s a little peek at what our weekends are all about!
Our main academy is for children aged 6–18, split into three age groups, so everyone is learning at the right level and making friends their own age.
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by our friendly team, ready to help you settle in and feel comfortable. We start with a short physical warm-up to get bodies moving, voices ready, and confidence flowing
Then it’s time to jump into the fun!
Students rotate through three exciting classes:
Film & TV
Spend an hour writing, performing in, and filming short scenes and films – exploring both comedy and drama while learning how things work on camera.
Comedy & Drama
From improvisation games to working on scripts, this class is all about building confidence, creativity, and storytelling skills.
Musical Theatre
Sing, dance, and perform musical numbers while learning choreography and vocal technique in a fun, supportive environment.
Every weekend at PQA is packed with energy, creativity, teamwork, and confidence-building – and a taster session is the perfect way to experience it all.

We’re really proud to be supporting the National Youth Monologues Competition 💛

This UK-wide competition is all about giving young people a platform to be seen and heard, and we’re excited to be part of it as it enters its second year.

As part of the partnership, the Pauline Quirke Academy is sponsoring the ‘Be Yourself’ Original Monologue Category, celebrating young people who write and perform their own words, in their own way. It’s about honesty, creativity, and having the confidence to share your voice.

This partnership fits beautifully with our Comedy and Drama classes, where students learn to use their voices with confidence and creativity, performing powerful solo pieces that showcase their individuality and growth within their academy.

From local rounds right through to a West End final, the competition is supported by sponsorship and bursaries to help young people from all backgrounds take part and shine.

Entries open on 26 January 2026, and we can’t wait to see the stories that will be told.

PQA High Wycombe students have been busy this term working on their Big Film Projects. With brand new kit to play with (including 2 new professional cameras) and lots of creative ideas to explore (think Santa meets some campers or a Princess saving a school from an unhappy nun) and you can expect some amazing films very soon

On the 6th December. Bring your friends and family along to our Parent Takeover. It’s a great chance to see what the students have been working on and join in with some fun activities. Everyone welcome. Tea and coffee will be available and we promise, no improvisation or tricky choreography!
