This week in MYP 3 French, our pupils stepped into the role of debaters, tackling the classic question: “C’est mieux d’habiter en ville ou à la campagne ?”
They explored the bright lights of the city and the calm, green rhythm of the countryside, presenting thoughtful arguments in their best French. From cafés and culture to fresh air and open space, every viewpoint had its champion.
In the end, the debate was so balanced that the result was a draw – a perfect example of lively discussion and confident language learning in action.

🌎 MYP 4 Spanish – Food, Culture & Identity
How deep is the relationship between food, culture and identity? That’s the question our MYP 4 Spanish students have been exploring as part of their latest topic.
Working in teams, pupils researched cuisines from around the world and created presentations titled “Dinners Around the World.” Each group investigated a different country, sharing insights into traditional dishes, cultural influences, and the role food plays in national identity.
The results were impressive, with every team producing thoughtful, creative, and well-researched presentations. ¡Buen provecho to all our MYP 4 students for their excellent work!

🌍 Exploring Greenhouse Gases in MYP1 IndiSoc
Our MYP1 students have been learning about climate change through the geographic lenses of the Arctic and Antarctica. As part of their studies, they created models to represent greenhouse gases, helping them understand how these gases are both essential for life on Earth and also linked to the human-enhanced greenhouse effect driving today’s rising temperatures.
Hands-on activities like this help pupils visualise complex global issues and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Our table tennis team travelled to the ISA Regional Championships in Harpenden and performed brilliantly against strong opposition. One senior pupil won several knockout matches, while a junior player reached the final eight of the whole competition.
Every student showed determination at the table, and the younger players gained valuable experience throughout the afternoon.
A fantastic effort from the whole team!

🔥 Curiosity sparked in MYP1 Science!
Our MYP1 students have been investigating the products of combustion and learning how to plan a fair scientific test. With careful supervision and plenty of safety reminders, they explored what happens when different materials burn, observing the results and recording their findings like true young scientists.
Hands-on experiments like this help bring science to life, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world around us. And yes… there’s always a little extra excitement when flames are involved! 🔬✨
