The Home by the Sea Nursery is a nursery that provides high-quality childcare to its close community.

We believe that children learn best when they are having fun. We have created an exciting and stimulating homely environment where children can learn through play. Home from Home is set in a spacious Victorian family home with a 100ft garden complete with apple trees and allotment. We have a fantastic teem of caring staff who work with our parents to ensure your child is safe and happy in their "home from home".

🏖️ Childhood is full of moments of discovery.

From collecting shells and exploring new textures to watching the waves and sharing adventures with friends, experiences like these help children build confidence, curiosity and an understanding of the world around them.

We love creating opportunities for children to learn through real-life experiences, encouraging them to ask questions, make observations and explore beyond the nursery environment.

It was wonderful to see our Pre-School children so engaged, sharing their discoveries and making special memories together during their trip to the beach.

If you're looking for a nurturing nursery where children can learn through play, exploration and meaningful experiences, we'd love to show you around.

World Ocean Day 🌊

Today, we’re celebrating our wonderful oceans and all the amazing sea life that lives beneath the waves. From tiny fish to enormous whales, oceans are home to so many fascinating creatures for children to discover and learn about.

Throughout this week, the children will be exploring ocean themes through stories, discussions, creative activities, and conversations about how we can all help care for the world around us, including putting rubbish in the bin and helping to keep our beaches and parks clean.

We love encouraging children to explore the world around them with kindness, curiosity, and an appreciation for nature 💙

A day of shells, splashes and seaside smiles ☀️

Our Pre-School children enjoyed a wonderful trip to the beach, where they explored the shoreline, skipped stones across the water, collected shells and shared a snack with friends.

Before setting off, the children talked about beach safety and how to stay safe near the water, helping them feel confident as they explored their surroundings.

There were lots of opportunities for curiosity, discovery and adventure throughout the day, and it was lovely to see the children enjoying the fresh air and making memories together 🌊

Outdoor Play at Home by the Sea Day Nursery and Pre-School☀️

There’s something special about learning through play, especially when it takes place outdoors with friends.

Whether it’s splashing in water, exploring new ideas, working together or simply sharing a laugh, these everyday moments provide valuable opportunities for children to grow and develop.

Outdoor experiences help to support confidence, creativity, communication and positive relationships, while encouraging children to explore the world around them in a way that feels meaningful and fun.

It’s often these simple moments of discovery, friendship and laughter that create some of the most treasured childhood memories.

What an exciting week it has been for our Pre-School children 🦷✨

We were delighted to welcome back one of our former nursery parents, David, who kindly visited to talk to the children about the importance of looking after their teeth, brushing regularly and making healthy food choices.

The children were fully engaged throughout the session, enjoying the opportunity to practise tooth-brushing techniques on toy teeth and listening carefully to a story all about keeping our smiles healthy. It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, enthusiasm and confidence as they explored the importance of oral health together.

We’re also excited to share that we will soon be working alongside the NHS Oral Health Foundation Programme to help promote positive oral hygiene habits from an early age.

As part of this initiative, children aged 3 years and over will receive their own toothbrush and toothpaste to use at nursery each day, helping to encourage healthy routines and independence as they grow.

By working in partnership with families, we hope to support children in building lifelong habits that contribute to their overall health and wellbeing 💛

Nursery Sunshine Checklist ☀️

With some very warm weather expected this week, we’ll be making the most of our outdoor spaces through playing, exploring and learning in nature.

To help keep the children safe, cool and comfortable throughout the day, we’ll continue providing shaded play, regular water breaks and lots of opportunities to cool down.

We’ve also put together a sunshine checklist with a few helpful reminders to support our little ones while they enjoy the great outdoors 🌿
